If Hickey has a decent game against Gawn, I reckon he gets the No.1 spot for Round 1.

It's the pre season.. and due to AFLX young players are missing out on an opportunity to demonstrate what they can do.Saintly66 wrote:Coach lacking imagination by the looks of it.MC Gusto wrote:What’s the story with Brandon white?
Despite this Richo needs to step out of his comfort zone and give players like White, Rice, Austin, Phillips, and maybe Paton a go.

I wouldn’t call any of our “Noteable Absentees” to noteable, most are unproven or not worthy of a spot (Lonie).
In saying that, I’m looking forward to seeing a good game

Was it white who ate the pies last preseason??
Kid is good enough Tony - we’ve all seen it. One of the most comfortable 1-2 gamers I’ve seen at afl level with strong hands and a raking boot. Offers a lot more than about 5-10 of the players listed
Maybe just not fit enough or not doing what the coach asks of him?

Re: Teams for Saints vs. Melbourne JLT
Better team but am disappointed not to see Logan and White for the second time and am already developing a nasty feeling that we’re seeing the start of another season long free pass to Mav Weller.
And that will make for a long season. Based on what I’ve seen so far, I’d rather see Lonie in the team ahead of Mav

We can only hope. Billy is a liability. Pity GWS didn't take the trade bait at the end of 2016.Linton Lodger wrote:If Hickey has a decent game against Gawn, I reckon he gets the No.1 spot for Round 1.

Re: Teams for Saints vs. Melbourne JLT
Agree it is my opinion but are you saying there would be others who would argue he is not good enough for a JLT game? Remember that’s all I’m saying - that he should have had a run in JLT. If he’s not good enough for JLT then wtf is he doing on our list?! Thus my guess he’d done something else to rule him out eg eating pies, injured, ‘not playing his role’ etc

Re: Teams for Saints vs. Melbourne JLT
Nothing wrong with making White take the long road - we had the exact same conversations about Acres over the last couple of years and Blake looks ready to really take a leap forward now.
Like it or not, we're still in a stage where we need to be developing our talent so they can become the best players they can be. Throw him in now and he could easily be a good 150 game player, but make him really "hone his craft" and earn it for a bit longer and he potentially becomes a very good 250 game player.
