Fake news!!! AFLX-rated is the best deal ever, believe me! I will be there with my great friends Rob Porter, Billy Bush and Luciano Pavarotti. There will be so much winning! Re: POLL: Do you want AFLX to fail?
It's the type of game where I'll be only really watching the Saints play as I really don't give a stuff about the other teams.
I think if we're in it we might as well try and win it as we do have a lot of novelty trophies in our cabinet.

Interesting to see Geelong & Adelaide in the "grand final" - two of the higher, more successful, teams.

Having watched tonight, I'd say, "who cares?"
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

I'd say your not emotionally invested in other clubs and players, and neither am I. Once our guys are out there (8:04pm v Essendon and 9pm v Hawthorn) you might at least be partially interested. I know I will be.Drake Huggins wrote:Having watched tonight, I'd say, "who cares?"

Adelaide are the inaugural AFLX Premiers and most teams haven't even played a game.

Richard Hinds' writes, "If you wanted to kill AFL stone-dead surely you would turn it into this hollow, unappealing, pressure-free, atmosphere-deficient, oval-in-a-rectangle hole yawn-fest." He goes on to say, "That said, it would be churlish not to list the highlights of AFLX's debut in Adelaide on Thursday night. So, in order, here they are:
1. The final siren."
Enough said.

Re: POLL: Do you want AFLX to fail?
I think this 7-man-a-side idea works better with rugby - you no longer have an impenetrable wall of players blocking, and it frees the game up.
Makes rugby more of a spectacle (it might convert people to it).. maybe it would work with soccer too?
I think this is where the threat may be (to traditional AFL) .. if there is any?
AFL is quite free-flowing, anyway - and doesn’t really benefit from it.

I thought it was rubbish and turned it off and watched "I'm a fool, get me outa here." instead.

You obviously like gimmicks. Enjoy your Zooper Dooper sugar fix!!Scollop wrote:ffs. how can you not like it if you are "yet to watch a game of it"? Typical negativity from some on here is so boring. The game is always evolving. The players are all professional athletes and the tactics and coaching is so much more complex than it was in the60's and 70's, but I have a feeling that with the format of AFLX we'll get to see more skills like we used to. It's not quite going to be kick to kick and take speccies but it'll bring back an element of those traditional skills imoSainternist wrote:I'm yet to watch a game of it, but I'm not liking what I see so far. Keep Mickey Mouse out of our great game!
I love a contest and I love the defensive aspect of the game, however I think this could help to create a different look for the AFL and for fans who are sick and tired of seeing continuous stoppages with 20 players bunched up within a 10 metre radius
P.S. Don't get too high on all that sugar, you might come crashing down before the real season begins

I think it will be good to see the Saints in action tonight even though the game is pretty boring in itself.

I was there last night with my very great friend, C**try Party leader and fellow patriotic shagrat, Barnaby Choice. "Inept and unhelpful!!!" That's how my great friend Carnaby just described all the extremist left wing criticism of AFLX-rated on this clearly, very clearly, muslim-biased thread. It's shameful! Believe me folks. And nobody knows about inept and inappropriate and muslim-biased like Can'tby (and I) do, believe me! Super hooters and silver tooties??? The greatest things ever! Nothing could be more patriotic, and less Mexican, believe me. Let me tell you, I shall be signing an executive order via my Twatterfarce account this morning, yes this morning, to legislate for all the players and officials to carry guns, magnificent semi-automatic guns. Then, AFLX-rated will be perfect! I will then have made AFLX-rated the greatest game ever, believe me! #makingineptandinappropriateX-ratingsgrateagainasonlygunscan

Re: POLL: Do you want AFLX to fail?
I didn't want it to fail until i watched it last night. Now i think it's best to lock it in the same room as Hawthorn's blue, brown and gold preseason monstrosity , our attempts to play in NZ, and Graham Teasedale's brown velvet tuxedo. It was like watching training. I'd like to know what our resident track watcher, Tony74 thinks. Would you be able to tell the difference between AFLX and a morning of drills at Seaford? Still, like the desperate footy tragic I am, I'll be watching the saints tonight.
