Okay..

In 1990 the Saints finished in 9th place with 9 wins...

5 games plus % out of the Five....

How many weeks were the Saints in the top 5 throughout that season?

9 weeks of the first 14 rounds.
2 wins to start the season gave us P2.
After that we couldn't string together 2 wins (we went LWLWLWLW) which saw us slip to 6th at R10.
The last time we were at P5 was in R13 after we beat 2nd placed melbourne. After that game we faded away. :(

OK - the year is 2005!!
What was equally significant about our wins in R14 and R20?

R14 was Vs Dogs and R20 was against North.

Lowest winning margins of the year, maybe?

trying to think. First and last wins of our winning streak that set up our run to the finals?

Yes, 7 wins in a row is significant.
Yes those wins set us up for a tilt at the finals, but....

Not the answer I'm looking for.

A hint... the games were in 2005 but the answer to the question has a historical context to it.

On those games we drew even with them in wins/losses..

So..they're the only two sides we're even with?

Mad Saint Guy,

Yes, we have drawn even again:

bulldogs 68 wins, 68 losses 2 draws
kangaroos 69 wins, 69 losses 2 draws

Here's hoping we can draw ahead in 2006.

For the record, we have 8 wins and 6 losses v university (does that count? - yep until we can get ahead of some other team) and brisbane bears (not lions) we have 9 wins and 6 losses.
If you add bears and lions together we are less than 50%.

Your go MSG

HD - so close

Name the 3 coaches that have got the Saints to the Grand Final, and the years they got us there.

Awesome, here we go -

We all know the Moorabbin ground is being given a major facelift, but can someone tell us:

*The year the ground was originally constructed? AND
* The year each of the 3 grandstands were opened, and thier names?

GOOD LUCK!

The ground was constructed in 1964? And the 3 stands are:

G.G Huggins stand.

The Ian Drake stand.

The big stand has someone's name?? can't answer that one!! damn.

Got the name of the G G Huggins (Social Club) Stand and the Ian Drake Pavillion, but the ground was opened before 1964 and the stands were all opened at different dates, too.

Try again.

got no idea ric.... :? :?

I didn't even realise that the main grandstand had a name...

I do remember it was extended....

the order would be...

Main Grandstand my guess maybe 1963.....

G G Huggins......... 1966/67 ??

Main Grandstand extention.... some time in the 70's ... a guess 1973

Ian Drake Pavillion......... a guess but around 1974

but I dont really know the years....

Trick question on the Main Grandstand - according to all sources, that IS the name! Fiod, you are pretty close, but not quite.

The years of construction (Fid is right, the Main Granstand was extended at some time) can be found in the book Football Grounds of Melbourne.

Good luck.
