The Saints leadership group member is cautiously optimistic after building up his training enough to be on the verge of a return to the full group.

“I am going really well. I don’t want to say I am flying because it’s a scary injury. I thought I was over it midway through the year and it snuck back up on me,’’ he told the Herald Sun.

“But I have had a good five or six weeks of running and am slowly building up. I am starting to do agility and repeat speed stuff so I am not too far off getting back with the main group.

“I feel like a new recruit, a year off does that to you.”

Hugely concerning that he is still not with the main group.
The article indicates that each of the last three times he has moved into full match playing mode he has broken down.
Does not look out of the woods yet..

Also concerning that, even if he gets it right, he wont have the miles in his legs that come from a full pre season.
His only really good year came after he did a full pre-season of running

I hope he can get back to that 2015 form... but it probably is more realistic that he gets back to being a good contributor

I reckon our midfield group has moved past Armo.

He will be a handy experienced addition if he can get back to his best, but we're in trouble if we're relying on him to be starting in the centre for Round 1.

I'm expecting Dunstan to have a Ross-like breakout year, along with Steele improving, Jack Steven being fit, similar seasons from the foot soldiers (Koby Stevens etc.), and some opportunities for our high picks, Armo will have to be 100% to push someone out.

I'm afraid you're right, Con. No longer in our best 22.

Reckon people are pretty quick to forget, the guy is an absolute beast when fit, kicks goals, clearance machine, tackling animal, the only question for me is the injury.

I really rate him and if he can get fit, he will comfortably be in our best 22… probably inside our best 5.

If his injury flares up however then he's probably finished.

Definitely restricted in his movement at the time.

You need at least 7 midfielders.
Two outsiders on the wings, three at the centre bounces plus one ruckman, three resting on the pine.
But ideally you have at least another one or two who spend most of time in the forward line but can go through the centre when required.
The running load needs to shared if they are going to go flat out all the time.
