The Flux Report: Saintsational Trade Period Assessment

Post: # 1704906Post AeonFlux »

Solid.

Despite some mutterings that the sky is once again falling, it must be remembered that if there’s nothing to shoot, then keep your powder dry. Patience is the assassin's virtue.

Ticks:
- Kept picks 7&8. And looking at the touted draft picks, there are a couple of very very promising blokes who might just make it to picks 7 & 8. Would luurrrvee that Noah B bloke to make it to us. He will be something, but, he could be anything.
And from a quick read of reports from Knightmare, the amber and red warning lights start flashing brightly against bloke's names once one gets beyond our picks. (And that includes the much touted Brayshaw and Stephenson.) However, there will be no definitive recommendations till Kalsaint has tabled his drafting recommendations.
- Picked up Logan for nothing. Rodger reckons this bloke could very well prove to be an inspired pick up. And for a fraction of what Melbtank overpaid for a bloke who is a very good... third man up.
- We did not overspend like the Melbtank or Sold Toast did. (Lachie is not worth pick 2!) And the Crones. :stinger: (Gibbs is good, not great, and is 29! And why did they baulk at paying out the two first rounders last year when he was a year younger??? That makes no sense, and might even have cost them a flag...?)
- We did not pick up soft-as players like Watts (Port) or Shakedown (Footscrapheap).
- Who really cares about that 2018 second rounder? All part of creating good relationships with reasonable clubs for future trading. That's called a very sound investment. Besides, Yoda will find us another one if we need it.
- Very happy that we didn't get that mercenary Rockyroad. He ain't no sweet clubman, just a selfish player looking for a 'cheap' premiership. Guess what Rocky? You won't find one at flaky Port!
- We still have our war chest for next draft period's free agents, who look a much more promising lot than this year's. (Assassin. Patience. Virtue.)

There is however one-pissed-off-non-tick:
- Stringer was gifted to the Effndrugcheats for donuts and a couple of empty vials!!! A couple of second round donuts for a bloke who is Footscrapheap's equal best player alongside Dals' cuz!!! Fair bloody dinkum!!! Don't care that he has personal issues. Sounds like Footscrapheap has personal issues(!) The reward to risk ratio with Stringer is just sooooooooo damn good, how could one not take the punt??? It is to be hoped that our club had a fair dinkum real bloody hard look at Stringer’s file before deciding not to pursue him.

Other notable ins, outs, and gone missings.
- Start with the good, no the great news........... the return of Cairnsman!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

- Out, that bloke who was SS’s answer to Stringer. The cause of global warming, oxygen breathing rights for hipsters, and Trump getting elected. Basically, the root of all evil. And this place is now clearly so much better for his delisting. Everyone is happy again surely. Right....?
- But the silver lining is that we’ve managed to replace that poster with, his parents. And they seem like such nice people. :D
- A period of chronic indecision saw our most paradoxically named poster delisted, then relisted (Stringer-esque style?), then become a headband (instead of a headline?), only to again be advised to explore his options elsewhere. We now have settled (at least for the moment) on a cuddly duck to fill those very big boots.
- A surfer has been traded for a sainta.
- Two ITKs are now ITEs (in the exile), and there seems to be no way they can be replaced. A huge loss.
- There have also been calls for the delisting of another poster. (The new and latest source of all that is wrong and wicked at SS, and why Trump may yet get re-elected.......?) Well, we’re calling-out to the Mods to not be conned here. Passion is good, and this bloke has passion. Frustration is also inevitable. But if people can’t handle that, then if they don’t like what he posts, the advice is to play the ball not the poster. Explain why you believe he got a certain assessment wrong. That shouldn’t be too hard surely. Right.......?
- Also missing. Bakes Fan, Nymeria, the Doc, several posters’ senses of humour, Thomas, the various incarnations and tantrums of Joffa Boy, Grant Thomas, Big Martin, the location of Bluthy’s gravesite, Dave Warna, Vladimir Adolfo Roskilde, and sadly, way too many others. :(
- But all this pales into insignificance knowing that one of our team’s stars will no longer be able to playon. Vale, and sincere condolences. Huge boots that can never be filled. :(

Thoughts, Sainters? Thoughts, Rodger?

Eric Pearce, Sandra Sully, Jennifer Keyte et al.............

"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

TL DR

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn
