Better than Talia and Collins, IMHO, and would be terrific backup. 196 cm tall, 92 kg. AFL ready body with 13 games and several preseasons under his belt. Similar to Hugh, but has less of a turning circle. If not him, Collins. We can always put them on as rookies. Cost us nothing more than a can of coke and a Mars bar.
One player that is getable imho, is Ian Cooper's grandson. Delist Holmes.
Good to see someone who has an actual brain posting here.

Re: Mullet, Talia or Keefe
We no longer have Nick Riewoldt.Stian wrote:I thought that the club had an "understanding" with Talia that they would pick him up as a DFA.
Will that happen now that Austin has arrived as a tall backman???
i.e. does anybody know how committed we were with Talia? and is there a need to have both Talia and Austin on the list? (Maybe Talia as a rookie??)
My brain hurts.
Now Richmond went with only Jack Riewoldt with instructions to contest every marking opportunity.
He was required to do this to attract the tall defenders and also prevent the tall defenders marking.
I doubt that Josh Bruce can do that.
We need two tall forwards.
It would be nice if Paddy were good enough to be that second tall forward but he is prone to concussions and has yet to prove himself.
We need another tall forward at least until Goddard, Paddy or Marshall prove themselves or fail.
If Talia is available we should take him.
It probably means both Wright and Minchington both have their contracts ended prematurely.
Not a nice present when you return from holiday.
Holmes is already doomed because the club looks to be making all 4 draft picks.

Re: Mullet, Talia or Keefe
Do we need another key back? We now have 4 big fellas on the books with lots of years ahead of them bar Brown who maybe has 2-3. We definately won't be grabbing one in the draft you would think.
Apparantly Goddard is ready for day 1 of pre-season so all 4 are good to go.

I’m pretty sure we grabbed Austin so that we didn’t have to get any more talls in the draft.parkeysainter wrote:Do we need another key back? From the fact that we had no interest in a cheap as chips Schache, that tells me that they think our tall forwards are set now. (Regardless what you think of Schache, he had all the potential to be great)
Defencive talls seem stacked now.
I don’t see us making any plays for any of these delisted kpbs.

Weren’t 100% on Talia was just another option, would not expect him to join now that Austin is here.Stian wrote:I thought that the club had an "understanding" with Talia that they would pick him up as a DFA.

Re: Mullet, Talia or Keefe
There was an article yesterday on the AFL.com site about Tahalia. He says he had spoken with the Saints, because they were looking for defenders; however, he says because they have now picked up Logan Austin he doesn’t think it goes well for him.

We did have several rucks on the list- before Holmes was cut.loris wrote:There was an article yesterday on the AFL.com site about Tahalia. Why not have an extra defender?
Having Austin as back-up for Goddard, what if Hugh stagnates and Austin doesn't come up as good as expected?
We don't have enough tall backs at Zebs to cover injury/suspension.
Tahlia for depth would be good.
2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

We need speed, now. Flat out, light speed types. It's time! And they have to be able to hit targets. Not too much to ask, is it?

Re: Mullet, Talia or Keefe
We still have Longer, Hickey, Pierce and Marshall and basically only 2 teams for them to all play in.MickThomas wrote: We did have several rucks on the list- before Holmes was cut.
Tall backs; Carlisle, Brown, Goddard, Astin, Gilbert, Roberton, Joyce (194) plus Marshall has played as a Key Defender for both Sandi and Ballarat in the VFL.MickThomas wrote: Why not have an extra defender?

If things get thin playing Battle back would round out his experience.
Given who we now have on the list Tahlia would be twiddling his thumbs unless we have a major injury run.MickThomas wrote: Tahlia for depth would be good.

At our last pick, if our choices are between a defender that we rate and a mid that is more of a speculative pick...

No shame in that, mullet. I'd reveal my real name in order to encourage the young ones, but my real name is Trout Dudd.mullet wrote:I would like Mullet but I'm biased

GWS Giants have lodged official paperwork with the AFL for delisted Lachlan Keeffe (former Collingwood) to immediately join the club.
