And Hughie obviously isn't quite ready yet.
Makes sense to me.

Hoping now for us to storm up the ladder and Port Adelaide slide - so our Round 3 is only a few picks from their round fourkosifantutti wrote:Austin and 2018 round 4 pick for 2018 round 3 pick
But anyway - basically a player for future nothing picks (could be 50's)

He was signed with Power for 2018, don't we pay his salary twice then?Sainter_Dad wrote:Hoping now for us to storm up the ladder and Adelaide slide - so our Round 3 is only a few picks from their round fourkosifantutti wrote:Austin and 2018 round 4 pick for 2018 round 3 pick

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: Logan Austin
"From our point of view we've got great confidence in [Austin] from last year. He had a little bit of a setback in the last game and it just took him a little while to get going," Hinkley said.
"He's a really accountable defender. He's a big defender too, he's 198cm. He's a big man and we certainly like that, a little bit of extra size helps us.
"He beats his opponent, he beats opponents one on one. He helps other people set up. He's a leader, he's a young leader in our football team.
"You watch him out there, he's got his arms and he's got his mouth and he's got everything going when the ball is not around him to help other people." - Ken Hinkley in July before his first game of the season.
looks quite promising!

I is confused - why would we pay his salary twice - we do not have to pay Port his salary - he has been tradedMickThomas wrote:He was signed with Power for 2018, don't we pay his salary twice then?Sainter_Dad wrote:Hoping now for us to storm up the ladder and Port Adelaide slide - so our Round 3 is only a few picks from their round fourkosifantutti wrote:Austin and 2018 round 4 pick for 2018 round 3 pick

Re: Logan Austin
We will pay whatever we agree on with him and his manager. If it happens to be less than Port were going to pay him, Port would have to pay the difference.MickThomas wrote:He was signed with Power for 2018, don't we pay his salary twice then?Sainter_Dad wrote:Hoping now for us to storm up the ladder and Adelaide slide - so our Round 3 is only a few picks from their round fourkosifantutti wrote:Austin and 2018 round 4 pick for 2018 round 3 pick

Don't the original club cancel the contract as that is in the contract terms?
Anyone know?

Re: Logan Austin
So depending on where each club finishes will cost somewhere between 50-400 points. A pick 42 to 70.kosifantutti wrote:Austin and 2018 round 4 pick for 2018 round 3 pick
From Ports perspective they get the ability to use an extra guaranteed third round selection.

Re: Logan Austin
I think Kosi is right - for the length that he was previously contracted - he cannot be worse off, and the club that signed the initial contract is responsible for the make good.parkeysainter wrote:Very good question.MickThomas wrote:He was signed with Power for 2018, don't we pay his salary twice then?Sainter_Dad wrote:Hoping now for us to storm up the ladder and Adelaide slide - so our Round 3 is only a few picks from their round fourkosifantutti wrote:Austin and 2018 round 4 pick for 2018 round 3 pick

I think this forms part of the negotiation - I do not think that the contracts would be poles apart, he is not Buddy, Danger or Dusty.

No way that weight on the saints link is correct.
At least 95kg, looks a big unit.

Re: Logan Austin
I noticed he averaged around 10 one per centers per game over 11 games in 2016 - which is phenomenal - and maybe a record.
What other player comes close to that average?
I'm not sure how to interpret that - what are we talking about - spoils, acts of persistence/tenacity? - blocking for and helping out team mates?

Re: Logan Austin
Note to self: (I just gleaned this snippet from a wiki article).
"There are four actions which constitute a one percenter according to official AFL statistics: knock-ons, spoils, smothers, and shepherds".
So he does 10 of these acts per game (on average) - amazing!
