Why don’t they wanna play with us
Is there something wrong with our players that players from other teams don’t want to come and join us ? Do they see something or believe that we’re not near the window for a grand final?do we use a deodorant?

yeah... all those players from other clubs must have something against coming and playing alongside Carlisle, Roberton, Steele, Membrey, Bruce, Savage, Freeman and all those types of guysseano1 wrote:Is there something wrong with our players that players from other teams don’t want to come and join us ? Re: Why don’t they wanna play with us
Sorry but I don't buy that all.
We have not lost a player of any substance for years now and have continually re-signed our young, drafted and top end talent the past 4-5 years.
Plus we have recruited well over the past 4-5 years. Last year we picked up Steele, Stevens, N. Brown and Carlisle the year before. They all wanted to go to the Saints.
Yes, we missed out on a big gun like Kelly this year but that hardly shows players don't want to go to the Saints. Alot of big FA's and uncontracted players have chosen not to move anywhere to be honest.
I'm also glad the club isn't paying overs like 650k a year for a good ordinary B grade footballer like Rockliff. If the Saints spend big, lets get an A grader or potential A grader that had plenty of seasons left in him. Maybe the Saints are only targeting players we "really" want anyway.

Had plenty come last few years
If the deal is right they will come only if it suits both player and club. Also the big names we were chasing have stayed put and received better deals from there clubs to stay

Re: Why don’t they wanna play with us
A fair way yet to go in the trade period. Cool heads and strong nerve will always trump knee jerks. To be honest, I'd prefer to take our picks to the draft, rather than recruit "someone! Anyone!" Just to be seen to be "aggressive at the trade table". I have the utmost confidence in our recruitment team, but accept that many others do not.

Re: Why don’t they wanna play with us
Obviously the 'industry' knows something we mere mortals are not privy to... like game plan (Is there one?)... Premiership window (What does that look like?)... on the move again (Back to Moorabbin!)... perception that we are a fun club to belong to but not serious about winning... Several BIG names have gone in the draft and we have not even been part of the conversation! The real challenge is - How do the Saints become relevant again? Even the AFL website failed to register Seb Ross as our Club B&F until it was too late!

Some fair comments contained in this post. How do the Saints become relevant again? WINNING GAMES ( and lots of 'em!) the situation re: " relevance" can be transformed within a matter of moments ( historically speaking)SoopaSaint wrote:Obviously the 'industry' knows something we mere mortals are not privy to... like game plan (Is there one?)... Re: Why don’t they wanna play with us
If you wanted to pick a club for your future on this year's effort, then you go for the Bombers. We looked really ordinary too many times this season, ended the season like a lead balloon and are clearly a long way off finals.

Re: Why don’t they wanna play with us
Most of the ones on the market would be worried about getting a game with us. Particularly if we are not showing a lot of interest in them.

Re: Why don’t they wanna play with us
Can’t agree we are a long way off- just reasonable kicking for goal in West Coast and Port games would have seen us seventh and playing either Port or West Coast in an elimination finalspert wrote:If you wanted to pick a club for your future on this year's effort, then you go for the Bombers. Sadly, based on performance I find myself agreeing with you.

Re: Why don’t they wanna play with us
We don't seem to know much about other players... look at the Freeman deal! How many years has he been with us. No fault of his own mind you but he remains on our list. Gotta be the unluckiest player at the unluckiest club - in history! Now Smith is gone too... and Lever... what the hell is Bains doing if he is not recruiting? Taking up valuable room (and budget) no doubt. There is a village somewhere missing an idiot!

Nothing to do with kicking- that's just one factor of many.longtimesaint wrote:Can’t agree we are a long way off- just reasonable kicking for goal in West Coast and Port games would have seen us seventh and playing either Port or West Coast in an elimination finalspert wrote:If you wanted to pick a club for your future on this year's effort, then you go for the Bombers. Re: Why don’t they wanna play with us
Let's see.
We rolled over to Melbourne twice.
Sandy were poor.
We rolled over to the Bombers.
Why would players want to come to us given our efforts?

Where does this lack of heart come from? Once Lenny left and Roo was playing on one leg, we've been devoid of ticker.
Our "heart" players just aren't A-grade ball players that can inspire the rest through consistent efforts - Mav and El Capitan are the epitome of that.
At the risk of incurring further wrath; I'd call us incredibly soft.

You're siding with a troll.

You'll be right...that's what we've been collectively saying since the first quarter of R1 this season, hasn't it?ss1986 wrote:At the risk of incurring further wrath; I'd call us incredibly soft.
