Guess our draft period outcome? (October Edition)
Closest pick gets $1m ...
Given what we know now in October, what will happen for the saints?
TRADE 1
7, 8 to Lions for Pick 1/C.Rayner. They are open to it.
C.Rayner is a class above. Dusty Martin mkII. Why spend 7 and 8 on Stephenson/Coffield/Clarke or Higgins. .. they are all just good players where Rayner is friggin amazing.
TRADE 2
Hickey, Lonie & Swap of 3rds to GWS for Haynes.
May seem a great deal for us but they need a ruck and small forward. Paying Part of Hickeys/Lonies contract will help this. Remember we are cashed up. This is how we should do it.
TRADE 3
Round 3 to Fremantle for H.Balic
ROUND 4
Pick 61: C.Parish or T.McCartin - why not? Great genes
It is time for quality not quantity.
Rayner and Haynes inclusions = 2 xAGraders

I have heard on decent authority that the Saints are very keen on someone in the top 2-3 draftees. Not exactly sure who it is but we are willing to let go both picks to secure them.SMS wrote:Closest pick gets $1m ...

I'm happy if the club uses picks 7 and 8 and picks up a couple of potential guns.
I understand the obsession about picking up a big fish, but the fact is there aren't any left to pick up.
Unless you count Stringer, Watts and Rockliff, all of whom come with a degree of baggage.

In a mathematical error, we will use picks 7 & 8 to choose a player at pick 78.

Re: Guess our draft period outcome? (October Edition)
SMS, I posted the same trade (1) in another thread after watching the highlights of the phantom top 8. Looks like I copied, but swear I didn't see this . Lions said in the AFL news that they may not have pick 1 after trade period! Totally agree that Cam is the stand out. Throw a blanket over the rest.SMS wrote:Excellent!!parkeysainter wrote:I have heard on decent authority that the Saints are very keen on someone in the top 2-3 draftees. Re: Guess our draft period outcome? (October Edition)
The club delists the pretender wearing #44,
promising to redraft him.
Then as Mav is watching the televised draft,
the Saints guys hold up a sign saying "sucked in- the tribe has voted you OUT!!!"

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Armo's manager Shane Casley says
that any rumours of Dave going to Lions or Suns is rubbish, he's staying put.
Paddy McC is not moving either, says manager Scott Lucas.

After the first few, It doesn't look like a strong draft.
Maybe we should trade our picks for for one lower pick or established players.

Someone from our recruiting staff will say:
"I can't believe Player X was still available at pick 43."

Re: Guess our draft period outcome? (October Edition)
Starting to think the club is thinking Rayner.
Rayner, Balic (2017) Sloane, Gaff (2018)
Imagine the 2019 team
White. Goddard. Webster
Roberton. Carlisle. Newnes
Acres. Sloane. Gaff
Rayner. Bruce. Billings
Gresham. McCartin. Membrey
Marshall. Steven Steele
Dunstan. Balic. Ross. Freeman
Emg. Long Battle Stevens
Why not?? Seriously why not?
Forget these maybe players gwt the guns
Look atcthat line up ffs. We can afford it both in cash and picks.
Come in Ameet THIS IS THE WAY TO GO

If not gaff then Smith. If not Sloane then well we still got ross and dunstan anyway
2019 to 2025 - there really is no excuse we should win a flag.

Also think it is a bit stiff that our captain doesn’t get a gig in 12 months. Not even as an emergency.MickThomas wrote:Sinclair belongs in the 22

Take 7 & 8 to the draft & grab two of Bonar, Coffield, O’Brien or Cera. Hoping Bonar & O’Brien.

I'm really hoping we pick Bonar as well. He just has something. And just hoping one of the top 5 or 6 slide such as Cera orJaidyn Stephenson. I'm a little concerned about O'Brien as ive heard he cant break the tag. However have not seen him live.Myron Gaines wrote:Take 7 & 8 to the draft & grab two of Bonar, Coffield, O’Brien or Cera. Hey guys, was just wondering what people’s thoughts were on NOK if he will be delisted or put on for another year?
Think if given the opportunity he’d be great for us.
