Jack Lonie having an impact deep into September
If Cotchin goes for a third strike, he can thank Jack Lonie for strike number two.

Feel for Cotchin.
He deserves to play.
Reckon the AFL would want him to play as well.
But technically under the AFL's own laws he should go under the 3 fines rule, despite the first 2 being very very very soft.
Let's see this time how they will re-interpret their own rules to get their preferred outcome.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Maybe his mum will come out and say, "He's a good boy, really."
Perhaps a character reference from Demetriou?
On a serious note, it puts the AFL in a tough spot.
If they have any integrity at all, he must be suspended. Guys have been rubbed out for similar all season.
As the AFL has no integrity whatsoever, I expect him to be playing Saturday. They will find a loophole of some sort.

He can't go for what he did. He just went in for the ball and wanted it more than Shiel. Ridiculous to be suspended for that.bigcarl wrote:Maybe his mum will come out and say, "He's a good boy, really."

Re: Jack Lonie having an impact deep into September
It wasn't deliberate so he should get off.
Hopefully Sloan gets off as well. Martin will win Brownlow plus build up will be too much and Tigers will crash in GF.
They have had 2 soft finals opponents.
Crows by 50 points.

Re: Jack Lonie having an impact deep into September
He braced for impact before his shoulder/back connected with Shiel's head, putting him out for the remainder of the preliminary final. The stills are pretty clear on this. He knew Shiel was there.magnifisaint wrote:He can't go for what he did. He just went in for the ball and wanted it more than Shiel. But I suspect a player's head is sacrosanct only when it suits the AFL.
Look, I like Cotchin and think it would be horrible to miss a Grand Final.
But by the letter of the law he should go.

I disagree. I think Adelaide are better and I think they will win.SaintPav wrote:It wasn't deliberate so he should get off.

But the Tigers have the same fairytale momentum behind them that the Dogs had last year. They are every chance, especially considering that their guns are big game performers.

It's bad for Trent, so soft... but he's screwed himself here with a couple of strikes, tucking in the elbow and hitting the head.
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

It will be late but deserved justice for the punch on Lonie.
Maybe Cotchin and Barry Hall can watch this grand final together.

How many weeks did Greene get when he kicked Dalhaus in the head? If the AFL and (especially) the media wills it, there is always a way out. Having said that, it doesn't deserve anything, neither does Sloane's hit.

Sure. Adelaide are the better all-round team and have been the best team all year but that doesn't mean anything.carn_sainter wrote:I disagree. I think Adelaide are better and I think they will win.SaintPav wrote:It wasn't deliberate so he should get off.

Re: Jack Lonie having an impact deep into September
The only thing you can say with consistency about the MRP is that they are completely inconsistent.
They have invoked the “He must play regardless of our rules” clause yet again.
Perhaps if they spent a little more time on sorting out their internal procedures and less time on telling us how to think?

It looked simillar to that bump that knocked out Newnes against Swines- Jack's shoulder was hurting as well, like the Giant, and both were going the ball with heads down, Newnes came off second best.Enrico_Misso wrote:Cleared!

Cotchin will be relieved and I have no problem with it.
