Each to their own.
C'mon Con G. You must have something positive to say about the Saints...is there anything they're doing right?

I think we all have been caught up on J Kelly a bit too much. The list management/recruiting staff will have a plan B.
Ameet has been widely praised by alot of people in all AFL circles.
'afl circles'
These are what Don Watson referred to as weasel words.
Besides Saints fans in footy forums and his mum who has praised him?
Besides being in the right place at the right time with the JOM trade what has he actually done?

Tick.
Does that make him a genius?
I think Everton FC makes a good point.
Yeah. He's useless. A dud like everyone else at the Saints. No one in AFL circles knows what they're talking about when they all say he's a top operator and is good at his role. Guess they just make it up for fun.
Might as well sack him.
Just one example below. The bloke sounds like a complete hack.

Seriously what a joke.
This is an article released by a PR firm that Bains probably pays.
Again EAD.

2. Move to Moorabbin looks ok but how much did we lose on Seaford?
3. Can't think of a 3.
Here is the bad:
1. Finished 11th
2. No players under 21 yo playing in the AFL side
3. Weak VFL performance
4. Low attendances

Relax. The next Luke Delaney/Nathan Brown big fish is just around the corner. Ameet likes big fish so big (and slow) they are easy to catch with a lure and a couple of casts.jonesy wrote:Failed to deliver the big fish , over supply of mediocrity

Re: Bains misses out on AFL gig
Carlisle and Gresh for 1st round pick? Gaining Hawks 1st pick this year? Multitude of high top 20-25 draft picks and players from other clubs the past 4 years? e.g. Members, Bruce, etc. Keeping all our talent contracted and at the club? Have a think about it.Con Gorozidis wrote:Relax. The next Luke Delaney/Nathan Brown big fish is just around the corner. You are just taking the piss signalling out Delaney of all players. And N Brown has been a good pickup for nothing at all and is probably taking up barely any salary cap space. I fail to see how Brown's pickup makes Ameet Bains looks bad regarding big fish and the excellent work he does (it is not relevant). You are just being mischevious for the sake of being mischievious.

Ameet 'The Operator' Bains strikes again. Gets the 4 year Roberton deal over the line. Another string added to his bow of re-signings.

Re: Bains misses out on AFL gig
A great effort from Ameet. It wasn't only Hawthorn that was sniffing around Dylan, although they made a solid offer that would've made him think. I note Dylan said the delay was partly due to him exploring all options and getting the best possible advice. Good on him. This was his best chance for a big contract. Ameet obviously came to the party. Maybe the extra year on offer from the saints was the tipping point. I doubt he ever wanted to leave, but did the right thing by waiting for a better offer. In any event, well done all round. A bit of good news for a change.
I think you're pretty tough, don't I?

Roberton was going absolutely nowhere. Roberton just got elevated to our third or fourth highest player. His Manager will be drinking champagne all week.
Once again a very ordinary and expected piece of competence by Bains- retaining a 26 years old player by giving him a huge long term deal. This should be business as usual and just ordinary work. Why do we treat every piece of regular work with such applause? That is in essence what is wrong with Saints culture. The high praise for mediocrity.
Bains would have been a genius if he signed up Roberton 12 months ago for four years at 400k. Instead hes paid top dollar. Roberton deserves it but lets not make out this is some great piece of work.

Re: Bains misses out on AFL gig
In fairness, Con, the Hawks had a massive crack at Dylan. I doubt he was going anywhere, but you never know. Losing him at this stage would've been embarrassing and damaging. If others. Come hunting, you have to offer a little more. True, he could've done mor, earlier, but methinks Dylan had become aware of his worth and played this well. At least we've still got him.

Can't tell if a joke or not? Judging on your recent negativity I sadly suspect not. Gives Bains credit where credit is due. He has re-signed and kept everyone we have wanted in the last 3-4 seasons including a ton of young talent. Yep. He is 'The Operator.'
Its not just about 1 signing either like today. Its a multitude of them (e.g. Billings few weeks ago) plus the players he has helped bring in from other clubs and again, the multitude of high drafts picks we mustered in the 1 to 25 range.
The fact the Hawks were chasing him to become their CEO earlier in the year (Bains informed the Hawks he didn't want to leave the Saints) and the AFL were considering him for a top role revently are just a couple of examples of his obvious talent.
Saints fans should thank their lucky stars Ameet is on our side. He was also integral in the move back to Moorabbin apparantly.

Re: Bains misses out on AFL gig
Positive post Parkeysainter.
We keep our talent intact and we're still in with a good shot of improving our list through free agency, trading and the national draft. It really could be a lot worse.
Apparently some on here think stability is a bad thing.
