Seriously, were not ready for finals.
We are good when we dish out the pressure.
When we get pressured we don't have the composure.
Finals ARE pressure.
Elite talent have this composure.
We don't have enough elite talent.
We would be embarrassed playing finals this season.
We need a big November.

Re: Seriously, were not ready for finals.
Maybe. But it's better to regret something you did than something you didn't do.
Everyone wanted to play finals this year and we fell short. That's not the end of the world, it doesn't necessitate wholesale changes in and of itself, but it is failure.

Re: Seriously, were not ready for finals.
I have thought for a couple of years now that, with our young list, they need games together.
To build their own identity.
2018 is where I've thought it truly begins for us.
It really was a bit of a stretch to think our ageing champs ( Roo, Joey Chips and Dempster ) would be there when we were up to seriously challenging again.
We know where our team is at now. And what we need.
Open the war chest, negotiate our picks well. And cut some dead wood.

Re: Seriously, were not ready for finals.
We have serious problems that cannot be ignored.
Only GWS (4), Eagles (4) and Adelaide (5) had less players with < 50 games experience this week.
I don't mind being 11th if we are a developing side. I also understand being young doesnt mean you are going to be good. You could just have bad kids on your list. A young list is no guarantee of future success.
But we are stuck in no-man's land. Our list Mgt is a shambles.

Re: Seriously, were not ready for finals.
Given the presentation that it is 2019/2020 that we are aiming at, who from today's 22 will be in that 2019/2020 side and which players on our List but not available today will be joining them?
My view is that we need to move on from good honest players and Zone contributors

Re: Seriously, were not ready for finals.
We need an injection of class
Kelly will help .... If he comes
Rice if he continues to develop is a great kick
If we have draft picks to use then it should be all about skill factor
We have a young side and they have played well in bursts this season but the line is now drawn and no excuses next year
Massive trade period coming up and we are minted - question is who wants to come?

No ruckman? Considering ruckman don't really provide value until they are around 27+ i would think either Longer or Hickey (or both) would be on the list based on your preference .St Loxton wrote:BillingsTo the top wrote:Given the presentation that it is 2019/2020 that we are aiming at, who from today's 22 will be in that 2019/2020 side and which players on our List but not available today will be joining them?

Saint Loxton - 2019, @ Chloe's bar Y & Js or the new Moorabbin bar if you prefer: if Stevens, Steele and Acres are first picks in the team that year name what you like from the top shelf. I'll buy - even though I lost on Mav for the first goal today (there was no first turnover option). Other than those few nit picks I nominate you as Riverland recruiter of the year.

Re: Seriously, were not ready for finals.
Im just not sure any of the ruckman we have are guaranteed to be there in 2 seasons. Longer is a trier, and has got better. Hickey has really faded, and maybe he can get back to circa 2016.older saint wrote:No ruckman? Both of them won't be there 2019
We must look elsewhere IMO.

Re: Seriously, were not ready for finals.
Well reckon if Steele and Acres keep on there upward trend, they will both be top 10 players in our club.Yorkeys wrote:Saint Loxton - 2019, @ Chloe's bar Y & Js or the new Moorabbin bar if you prefer: if Stevens, Steele and Acres are first picks in the team that year name what you like from the top shelf. Jacky boy Stevens is a certainty to be there, a real club gun.

Whilst we would get done in a finals game I'd prefer that this year to missing out completely
WAY better scenario. The experience would be invaluable

Re: Seriously, were not ready for finals.
Not sure about Bruce as the full forward. Circa 2015 maybe but he's really faded. Good honest triers are just not good enough moving forward. Plus the sooner we replace Brown the better - He doesn't contribute anything.Teflon wrote:Good listSt Loxton wrote:BillingsTo the top wrote:Given the presentation that it is 2019/2020 that we are aiming at, who from today's 22 will be in that 2019/2020 side and which players on our List but not available today will be joining them?
