Abuse of players Melbourne game
Seriously...only been on this site a few weeks but the abuse of players and coaches from some people is out of control. I can't be bothered copying and pasting examples but its easily found. Its just plain disgusting.
We had a crap half of footy against Melbourne in a very important game so I get it people get aggro and irrational. The Saints will have many more crap games in the decades to come. Its part of sport and following a team. You get let down.
But lay off the personal and crazy abuse of players and coaches on here. I would be horrified if you did the same to real people you come across: e.g. family, friends, work colleagues, shop owners, public officials, etc.

The game day thread is always an emotional roller coaster.
It is live action and full of emotion. It is game time and in the 'fog of war'.
Stop being a cry baby.

I agree Con. It's called passion. Heat of battle stuff. Some supporters wear their hearts on their sleeves. That is just how they are built.Con Gorozidis wrote:The game day thread is always an emotional roller coaster.

This is not North Korea or a battlefield. Its simply a game of football played and coached by flawed human beings.Con Gorozidis wrote:The game day thread is always an emotional roller coaster.

those weak supporters should stop and think about themselves a bit more rather than channeling their insecurities onto our players perhaps?bigcarl wrote:I agree Con. It's called passion. It's just a game of footy yet here you are on your soap box signalling your virtue.
Do you want a certificate for being so level headed?
Players are fair game in the match day thread. They earn 500k year and get the adulation of fans. You want the big bucks in the big league then you take the criticism. As long at isn't personal in nature.
All anyone said was Mav is a poor footballer. He may be the greatest bloke in the world.
For the two hours of game time you get judged for performance surely?
Are you saying if a player has a good game we should also stay quiet ?
You can't have it both ways.
Or is this like under 10s where everyone gets a blue ribbon for turning up?

Re: Abuse of players Melbourne game
You just answered a question with a question to start off.
Must have hit a nerve by the looks of it by your personal attacks on someone you don't even know.
The abuse of coaches and players is and was disgusting by some people on this site. That's not critical analysis and thinking. Its just being pig ignorant and arrogant. End of story.
Yep. The Saints players and coaches do get paid big bucks and are in the big league. They're not free from proper critical analysis of course.
Its still just a game of footy at the end of the day. Get over it champ. The stupidity levels associated with the irrational abuse of players/coaches is not on, no matter how much they get paid, their ability level, how bad they played, etc. Never should be.

Always waiting around to have a go
It is a colourful description of the way he regularly and repeatedly ignores the first option and does a big wide arc whenever he gets the ball as though he were on show at the Launceston show.
Certainly directly attributable to the game.

he took a mark inside the forward 50 and didn't go the first option- who was on his own, right in front.kosifantutti wrote:No, it's just personal.Con Gorozidis wrote: It is a colourful description of the way he regularly and repeatedly ignores the first option and does a big wide arc whenever he gets the ball as though he were on show at the Launceston show.

Waited just long enough for Dees to get back
then kicked to a contest and Dees swept the ball back.

But this is an ongoing weekly thing.
He plays football like it is an individual equestrian dressage competition. He's not a team man on field.
That is a direct comment on his football playing style.
