Gary Rohan to Saints 2018
Rumour has it that Saints are interested in Gary Rohan for 2018. Only 26 years old and a Vic boy from Geelong area.
We are in desperate need of breakneck midfield speed to complement all these inside mids we now have after we added K. Stevens and J. Steele last trade period. He reminds of Arces a bit. Very tall and well built for a midfielder that has good pace. He's a really good pressure player when he gets going and is fit. A perfect mid for where our list is at regarding midfielders.
I personally don't think he would cost much at the trade table (2nd or 3rd round pick)...unless he is a FA due to his age?

He's more of a utility than a 'genuine' mid, spends most of he's time either back or forward, has had many injuries over his career, so a big risk, again as you suggested for the right price!!!!!
His body is more like a 30 year rather thnx 26!!!!!

I hope not, he is spud. I don't get the hype. He is fast yes, but we need speed and class and he couldn't play midfield.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. Good player, but had some plenty bad injuries in his time.
Anything more than a late second rounder would be quite a gamble. We already have Freeman.

His did Jim had a couple of stints playing reserves for us in the 1980's.

If he was not injured so much he would be a star, he's had a shocking run
Strong forward or back, fantastic mark overhead
Uninjured he would be in the swans best 8 players
Yeah,big spud

His main problem is that he is hugely inconsistent.parkeysainter wrote:Rumour has it that Saints are interested in Gary Rohan for 2018. Only 26 years old and a Vic boy from Geelong area.

Do we really want a guy that plays cameos only every so often?
What we are mainly ineed of his elite midfield talent. If they are quick it is a bonus. We need a week in week out performer though. ie a genuine gun.

Gary Rohan to the Saints? If there is any truth in it I am all for it. He is one of Sydney's better players. I cant see them letting him go.

Please no 2 Grand Finals and 2 Leon Davis type performances. might be a very good regular season player but has twice now failed on the big stage.

Classic case of people being seduced of what he could be rather than what he actually is. If we got him cheap (which seems highly unlikely) then for sure, but I wouldn't want uis wasting 1st round draft picks on him. Or paying him more than $350k per year.

Saints administration and coaching during the 80s was worse than cr@p.longtimesaint wrote:What did the club do to upset them?Junior wrote:His did Jim had a couple of stints playing reserves for us in the 1980's.

Club hopefully digs out the lever arch file with "Jaegar O'Meara" on the label
and flicks through those pages again...before thinking about ringing Rohan's manager.

Re: Gary Rohan to Saints 2018
In most of his games he doesn't reach 10 disposals. He's good for 2 or 3 highlights but goes missing way too much. We already have too many inconsistent types that drift in and out of games. I'd take him if he was dirt cheap but wouldn't pay more than a 3rd round pick.

Re: Gary Rohan to Saints 2018
100% correct. Does a couple of flashy things that seduces but has very few possessions and tends to butcher the ball. Would add nothing.mad saint guy wrote:In most of his games he doesn't reach 10 disposals. He's good for 2 or 3 highlights but goes missing way too much. Re: Gary Rohan to Saints 2018
Obviously more adept than you. He averages about 10 possessions a game. Do you really think that would add to the value of our team? Lets recruit a player with a history of injury and doesn't actually win much ball.terry smith rules wrote:You obviously have a great foot ball brain..Selhurst Saint wrote:I hope not, he is spud. We need to aim higher than this injury ravaged French Fry.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
