Re: Slow version of Oh when the saints
Great suggestion But you'd be surprised how many people (generally those born in the 90s or 00s) would have no idea what you're talking about.mr six o'clock wrote:Just turn the 45 dial to 33.

It's a great innovation and will get better and better as the crowds and victories get bigger,
culminating in a spine-tingling chorus when we're ten goals up in the last quarter of the GF.
Some day.

Re: Slow version of Oh when the saints
side note-watching the post game interviews on the replay( yes I got this weeks ok)
and one of the commentators mentioned the acapella version of the song being sung by the Saints crowd-
I wondered just how much notice they actually take of what is happening at a game on any one week-
the song is used via the music system at the ground before every home game and after every home win.
I know we are super conscious of Saints news and activities But sometimes the lack of basic knowledge by broadcasters and commentators is surprising.

It was as Basil Zemplis. And in typical form that comment did not make his top 5 stupidest comments of the call.saintbrat wrote:side note-watching the post game interviews on the replay( yes I got this weeks ok)

Re: Slow version of Oh when the saints
Just on the in-game entertainment/sound system, was anybody else bewildered by that mcdonald's half time review? Everyone was in position waiting for the ball to bounce for like a minute just so they could finish their ad for mcdonalds coffee.
I know they pay for it, but I thought that was too much. So dumb, so lame.

Re: Slow version of Oh when the saints
I absolutely can't express how much I LOVE that version of "When the Saints go Marching In', at the end of a game. Sounds mega awesome on TV, love, love, love it.

Re: Slow version of Oh when the saints
I think Basil mentioned that Richmond weren't playing well because they had come back from a grueling trip last week (in Adelaide). When someone else pointed out that that was 7 days go and that the Saints had come back from WA and a 6 day break he shut up pretty quick. What a drongo.SemperFidelis wrote:It was as Basil Zemplis. Re: Slow version of Oh when the saints
I didn't realise that song had so many verses but I love the first verse and I wonder if we could incorporate it somehow into our song:The Peanut wrote:Here is my favourite slow version -
We are traveling in the footsteps
Of those who've gone before
But we'll all be reunited
On a new and sunlit shore
Oh when the Saints go marching in
When the Saints go marching in
O Lord, I want to be in that number
When the Saints go marching in
It gives meaning to all our saints players that have played for the jumper before and that sunlit shore would represent a premiership I would think. Plus the song would go a bit longer as ours is the shortest one of all club songs.
Mind you I also liked the Saints fight back song from the 80's:
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Slow version of Oh when the saints
There's sort of a version of it here.
http://www.sportingnews.com/au/afl/news ... x0grte5o4y
The writer wasn't that impressed!
"The Saints may have been winning on the field but they were doing their best to embarrass themselves of it.
After halting a Blues burst with goals from Membrey and Weller, the sound of a slow-tempo version of "When the Saints Go Marching In" could be heard echoing around the Etihad Stadium PA system.
We really hope this isn't a trend that catches on around the competition.
Judging by how ridiculous it sounded, we shouldn't be too worried. "

Hopefully the idiot that wrote that wont get a job in the real media, but "Judging by how ridiculous it sounded, we shouldn't be too worried".cowboy18 wrote:There's sort of a version of it here.
