If this was Rance hitting Rooey it would be "that filthy dog should get 8 weeks".
Because its a Saints player it was an accident and he should be let off
Most objective posters on this site predicted 3-4 on Saturday night with hope of 2.
Get real guys, whether deliberate or accidental or just sloppy, Membery has a duty of care and hit Grimes in the cheekbone with an extended forearm.
Grimes was attempting to mark with eyes on ball and the forearm was extended and not tucked into a bump position.
The guys cheek blew up like a balloon and he left the field a short time later not returning.
Do you think he can walk away from that without significant suspension?
Is the suspension a St Kilda rule???
How did these objective posters work that out?

Common sense is irrelevant. MRP guidelines are what dictate the outcomes.

The Trump Tribunal handing down the 3 weeks Membrey Suspension.
Reportedly while Ivanka was holding firm on a 3 week penalty, the Donald was heard to mumble as he stormed away "Careless contact only, shoulda only been 2 weeks".
Fortunately the Trump Tribunal holds no sway in the AFL.

"Membrey is facing a two-match suspension after striking Richmond’s Dylan Grimes during Saturday night’s clash at Etihad Stadium.
Wood’s strike to Crow Mitch McGovern was assessed as “intentional conduct with low impact to the body”, but was offered a one-game ban as it was his third classifiable offence for the 2017 season, meaning he is subject to a one-match sanction with an early plea.
Two captains were offered fines for respective incidents over the weekend, with Tiger Trent Cotchin hit with a $1500 fine for striking Saint Jack Lonie.
Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker was cited for “misconduct” against Bulldog Jason Johannisen after the defender clashed with the goalpost on Friday night, but can escape with a $1000 fine.
Eagle Drew Petrie, Kangaroo Robbie Tarrant and retiring Hawk Luke Hodge were all offered fines."

Re: Members offered 3
MRP: "Tim Membrey, St Kilda, has been charged with striking Dylan Grimes, Richmond, during the second quarter of the Round 16 match between St Kilda and Richmond, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday July 8, 2017.
In summary, he can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea.
Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Richmond Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with high impact to the head. The incident was classified as a three-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a two-match sanction."

No it was 3 weeks - down to 2 with an early plea - if we choose to challenge it goes back to 3 unless we can prove something different (eg medium impact)kosifantutti wrote:It seems the objective posters were wrong.Joffa Burns wrote:God I love reading this forum!

Take the 2 - suck it up - and hope that we can win the next two - and do it well.
It would have been nice to have Members playing against the Swannies though - poetic really!

Even nicer next week as well, especially given his recent form - our most accurate forward over the year with 26 goals 12 behinds (cf Josh 25/17 and Nick 23/12) and I think in his best form for marking.Sainter_Dad wrote:...It would have been nice to have Members playing against the Swannies though ...

Re: Members offered 3
Take it. No way will we do better on appeal. No way.
4 down to 3 would have been cause for considering appeal, but not this. The grading looks fair to me.
A real shame for Tim and for the club, but we just need to wear this and move on. And now Tim's found those kicking boots again we can hope he comes back in with some real confidence.
