He is using emotional blackmail to try and get another year.saintsRrising wrote:What a poor post on a very good player that has always done well by the Saints.Con Gorozidis wrote:It is very disappointing he is putting himself in conflict with the club. Not a good bloke.

He has put the club in a no win position.
If they say no then they will meet the ire of some of the fans.
A true club man knows when to go and would just go without adding stress and pressure via the media.
I admire guys like Lenny or Adam Gilchrist who just retire without a big stressful battle at the end.
It is public extortion and using his influence with the media and fans to back the club into a corner.
Yes he has been a club champ. Why spoilt it.
I'll say it again. Poor form.

Why should he retire when he has been clearly in our best 22 this year.Con Gorozidis wrote:What?saintsRrising wrote:What a poor post on a very good player that has always done well by the Saints.Con Gorozidis wrote:It is very disappointing he is putting himself in conflict with the club. Re: Joey on the future of Joey
What is really naive is the suggestion that emotional blackmail will have any effect on the club's list management.
Anyway, I don't think the fans would get that hot and bothered about Joey not playing on in 2018. I wouldn't, and I actually want him to stay.

So you really, really believe our coaches and list management team are that spineleless?Con Gorozidis wrote:He is using emotional blackmail to try and get another year.saintsRrising wrote:What a poor post on a very good player that has always done well by the Saints.Con Gorozidis wrote:It is very disappointing he is putting himself in conflict with the club. So you believe that when it comes time to decide who stay, and who goes that they all sit around only reading fluff media pieces?
I let you into a secret Con. The media is full of info for the fans. A lot it as Trump would say is Fake News. It is click bait, or helps to sell papers (disappearing into the sunset I know). What it does not do is to be used as a list management black box that influences our list management team on who goes or who stays.

Yes our list Mgt and coaches are spineless and not very bright.saintsRrising wrote:So you really, really believe our coaches and list management team are that spineleless?Con Gorozidis wrote:He is using emotional blackmail to try and get another year.saintsRrising wrote:What a poor post on a very good player that has always done well by the Saints.Con Gorozidis wrote:It is very disappointing he is putting himself in conflict with the club. I believe that.
Joey should just announce he is going and go off to 3AW or whatever.
Selfish bloke.
The club shouldn't be a superannuation top up club for the 'almost stars' of 09 and 10.
He wants to play another year for the money. Let's all just be honest and adult about that please.
I'd much rather get games into Bailey Rice.

Re: Joey on the future of Joey
i continue to be bewildered by the cargo cult of Bailey Rice. I'm sure he's got some ability, but I'll be very surprised if a medium-sized half-back flanker is going to be the answer to all of our prayers. Our backline is currently the strongest part of our team. What we need is more midfield creativity and forwards who can kick more goals than behinds.

Joey is a liability down back he cannot defend and he just shanks the ball anywhere. His suicide handballs are terrible.

As good as Joesph has been for the club over many years, he has always been a flat track bully, it's time to go Joey!!!!!!!CURLY wrote:Joey is a liability down back he cannot defend and he just shanks the ball anywhere. His suicide handballs are terrible.

Re: Joey on the future of Joey
He isnt a flat track bully and has been a very good player as a mid/forward. He is however not a defender and never has been he is no good overhead.stonecold wrote:As good as Joesph has been for the club over many years, he has always been a flat track bully, it's time to go Joey!!!!!!!CURLY wrote:Joey is a liability down back he cannot defend and he just shanks the ball anywhere. Re: Joey on the future of Joey
Joey's future was probably decided this afternoon, should find out either way soon.

A LIST management meeting at St Kilda late on Thursday afternoon is set to determine the future of Leigh Montagna.
The injured veteran is out of contract at season’s end and is keen to play on, but the Saints are yet to offer him a new deal for 2018.
It is understood St Kilda’s list management committee is split on Montagna with an announcement imminent either way on the 33-year-old’s future.

Re: Joey on the future of Joey
Dal spoke on this-- or was asked again- and again- and again ( every time he is on some programs) (( what are they going to ask Dal once decisions are made))
He said Joey is comfortable with the options the club has presented him with- and happy how ever it goes.
Knowing he will not play at the weekend.
( other media have said it may go as far as seeing what happens at trade period )
