Two saving marks in the dying minutes. Laser like left foot. Marcus who?
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Re: Billings
He's coming good, but Marcus has a premiership medallion.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Type of player that could turn up on GF day and complete tear it apart.
Or
Completely go missing.
When he's on, it's beautiful.

Definately silk department, although a couple of his set shots today were pure nylon.

Re: Billings
Billings has the potential to become a superstar: bigger even than Roo, perhaps the biggest at our club since Harvey. He's got the skills and, perhaps more importantly still, he's got the smarts.
That said, there was a player on the ground today who has even more potential than Billings: Michael Walters. I don't think I've seen too many footballers play a better game. He covered so much of the ground that there almost seemed to be two of him.

Re: Billings
When we have a close game, usually an opponent takes saving marks in our fwd line.
The 2 marks were incredibly brave, brilliant and perfect.
His second one, I think the Docker pulled out when he heard the "it's mine" thinking it was a Docker?
Their #37- you could see his shoulders drop as he turned around.
But JB still got to the perfect spot and made sure it was a one touch.
Game saving, brilliant and skilful

Re: Billings
Two years ago, last year, everyone creaming themselves over the Bont.
I was bemused, thinking Billings will be better and by a bit.
So I can't say I'm surprised as Billings goes past the Bont at a rate of knots.
Big Paddy will be fine too.
Jack Lonie is going to be a player too.

Re: Billings
I think Saints fans are the only ones that believe that Billings has gone past the Bont. I'll say it again, we need to get over ourselves and stop comparing him to anyone in the draft of that year. It's obvious that he's not as good as The Bont - yet. Hopefully he will be. The Bont doesn't turn the ball over half as much as Jack. Opposition teams don't put a hard tag on Jack either.

Re: Billings
It is very rare, especially these days, you can say that a player single handedly won a game for his team but if Freo had have won today, you could have said that of Walters.meher baba wrote:Billings has the potential to become a superstar: bigger even than Roo, perhaps the biggest at our club since Harvey. Billings is in good nick. Very impressive...he built his season around rounds 3,4,5 where he just kept working and finding the pill, despite being a bit dodgy with the ball at that time. He seemed oddly hesitant to kick the ball today. Very good player though...our Robbie Gray. I reckon he has a 60 goal season in him, maybe even as soon as next season

Firstly, if so, that puts Jack in a pretty large club.
Secondly, he hasn't gone missing for quite a while now. And that includes in losing games. And that includes in losing interstate games - think Crones.
(It seems that we just have to hope that a certain other Jack stays fit and healthy, and then all will be well with our Jack B. )

Re: Billings
Has taken the crucial step - like Seb Ross took last year - of becoming consistent.
His "worst" within games and week to week is still solid, and his best is outstanding. Today wasn't his best game (cf. last week) but he was still in our best half-dozen.
The exciting thing is that he has the tools to keep going. No doubt he's got the talent to be a genuine A-grader.
He's not quite at Bontempelli's level yet but he's certainly having an equal season.
