Re: Fyfe and Sandilands could return
Sandilands is a good match up for Billy who should be able to match him around the ground
Fyfe hasnt been in great form anyway and will be a bit rusty
More worried about guys like Walters and the Hill brothers with their pace

Agreed. The pace of them is what will do the damage against us.Devilhead wrote:Sandilands is a good match up for Billy who should be able to match him around the ground

SP you are out there again, doing what you do best; spreading joy and lifting morale! with "motivation"(?!) like this OP to fire up the team, who needs opponents?

I disagree. I think we're due for a win over there.saintspremiers wrote:If they both come back and are fully match fit we are gone IMO
Excluding the win against Hawthorn in Tassie, when was Richo's last win interstate? 2015 against Gold Coast?

Re: Fyfe and Sandilands could return
Some teams have lost the hit-out count by a big margin, but were able to still win
I think the Dees did this at least 2-3 times
The ruck thing seems to be not all that important if your mids are on their best behaviour

Re: Fyfe and Sandilands could return
the official AFL website has articles on a Tuesday :
"who's in the mix" who is looking likely for selection
"who's performing in the state leagues"
They haven't done this week's articles yet

Re: Fyfe and Sandilands could return
I think Freo may have made a huge mistake by rushing Fyfe and Sandilands back in purely because it it is a home game in Perth, and they probably don't want them to return when they are playing interstate after a long trans-continental flight. I also think dropping Blakely is really going to hurt them and the injury of Hill is unlucky timing because he is an absolute jet.
Fyfe hasn't been in great form this year anyway, and Sandilands robs them of mobility. Add to this the outs of Hill and Blakely and I am a lot more confident of a win than I was even a week ago - and by the way I was pretty confident even then.
I am going to be a bit controversial here and say that I think our form hasn't been too bad, and that the signs are there that we are due for a big win sooner rather than later.
I base this on our form over the past two games where we beat North easily - we had two goals disallowed which slowed our natural momentum and gifted North false momentum - and against Gold Coast where, if we had kicked straighter, we could have won by twelve goals. Don't believe all that rubbish about an undermanned Gold Coast - they had some very handy talent in the side last week - particularly in the forward line and in defence - and after quarter time they didn't get a look in.
I know that St. Kilda typically play to the script and this is exactly the sort of "off-Broadway" game in which we inexplicably turn it on. Freo will try to save this game rather than take the game on and I think that the wider spaces of Domain Stadium will suit us today. It is supposed to be dry today so our smalls like Lonie, Billings and Gresham should be able to give us a lot of run in the forward line and hopefully our tall forwards' conversion will be reasonably good. This is also the type of game when Weller bobs up and kicks a few goals. I hope he can do that again today. I have a very strong feeling that we'll win well today. I wish I was able to be there.
