Hickey and Paddy for Longer and Meatball -need to stretch the GWS defence.
One year will be our year

Longer stays to take on big Mummy.longtimesaint wrote:Hickey and Paddy for Longer and Meatball -need to stretch the GWS defence.
Hickey is traded at the end of this season for pick 15 or better.
Paddy only comes back if and when Roo or Bruce get injured.
Meatball stays in as the opportunist/goal sneak.
Simple as that.

Re: Changes v GWS?????
For this game I'd like to see Wright in the team for Minchington.
GWS get a lot of drive from their back line, and I reckon Wright could play a defensive type role on Heath Shaw.
I'd love to see Paddy but not sure how to sqeeze him in this week, possibly a swap for Mav Weller. This may stretch their backline.

It will be interesting. Maybe they want to see him get consistent results in the VFL first. Get some real confidence up.Toy Saint wrote: I'd love to see Paddy but not sure how to sqeeze him in this week.

Hickey for Longer
I worry about Longer on the quick deck and against a good ruckman.

another poster mentioned 2 weeks ago that he noticed Longer at training, and Billy has enormous shoulders- he is a big brute.
I would rather big Billy rather than Tom the Twig. Gilbo as 2nd ruck because his follow-ups are gold, he helped our clearances immensely in Tassie.
Can't see any changes, but I think Richo might drop Meatball- he doesn't like giving Minch or SIncs a prolonged run in seniors if they drop off a bit,
and Minch got maybe 15 touches.
Richo has more patience with his favourites.
Sincs and Minch have to work twice as hard as everybody else to stay in RWB

No change
Wouldnt matter what we did. Reality check this week. We are 7-12 team. GWS are a top 3 team

Re: Changes v GWS?????
Two rucks this week - Hickey back in, maybe at the expense of Meatball - although they are not like for like - and Longer keeps his place. Mumford is so important for them - if we can at least negate his influence we stand a much better chance.
I'd like to see McCartin come back in too, but it would mean one of our key talls comes out.

Re: Changes v GWS?????
If we don't play Paddy in the seniors he is not going to improve at the highest level - then we might have another Tom Lynch scenario on our hands.citywest wrote:Longer stays to take on big Mummy.longtimesaint wrote:Hickey and Paddy for Longer and Meatball -need to stretch the GWS defence.

Play both rucks this week, I reckon.
Hickey is our best ruckman - and is our only ruckman capable of laying tackles and having some influence around the ground. He was playing relatively poorly recently, but the team as a whole seemed to struggle a bit for some reason. If we trade a ruckman it won't be him, I shouldn't think. I would like to see Longer and Hickey in the same team this week and see how that might work. Against GWS and teams with an elite ruckman this season we'll need the strengths of both L and H - it's a shame that our ruckmen don't appear to share attributes. One a tap ruckman - the other a more mobile tall who can fill a forward and defensive role when resting.
