Jack "Man of" Steele
Tackles- average 7.2 per game.
Today, he got 10. TEN.
He did one amazing thing today-
3rd qtr, 7 minutes to go, it's in the AFL highlights package.
In our F50, Acres got tackled to the ground, 3 or 4 Hawks stood by
expecting a free for 'holding" but Jack dived in, pulled the ball out, and handed it off perfectly to Seb
even while a Hawk was grabbing him, and Seb gave to Koby for a goal.
All of our guys did similar things, but just his presence of mind, and smarts, stood out for me.
Geez, this young fella is a revelation.

Re: Jack "Man of" Steele
Very solid start to his career at the Saints. Will be a machine in a few years. Great get, ànd cheap.

Re: Jack "Man of" Steele
Tony had us on watch for him having a rest this week. Glad he didn't. If he needs a rest, I hope it's not against the old team next Friday. Hang on for the Blues ...
Always loyal
Re: Jack "Man of" Steele
He has an artists hands - they almost have a life of their own. His kicking is getting better too. HE will keep stacking muscle on that frame. Could become "the man" for us in the centre square which we desperately need if we can't land a big fish. He's a bit of slippery fish too which the best mids are.
Only thing I hope is Richo doesn't overplay him inside at a young age coming back from a bad foot problem. Won't hurt to rotate him out of the team or play him on a wing to give him a breather. WE want him for a long time, not just the now.

I have observed his hands are very good Bluthy, this kid could be anything in a year or two.Bluthy wrote:He has an artists hands - they almost have a life of their own. Could he become "elite", very important here that we have "elite" players.Con Gorozidis wrote:Really like him. No frills. Does the job. Good reliable player. And just 21!
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Don't laugh, but that grab from Acres and dish off, was like something the Bont would do, or a talented Swan mid, or Dangerfield.Bluthy wrote:He has an artists hands - they almost have a life of their own. Interesting question, personally I doubt it, hope I'm wrong. I think he'll be a very good footballer in a year or two though. Elite is a standard above Jack Steven who is a genuine A GraderWayne42 wrote:Could he become "elite", very important here that we have "elite" players.Con Gorozidis wrote:Really like him. No frills. Bluthy it's getting a bit monotonous you having a pot at Richo in practically every post you write. Though I must admit you are very inventive in how you weave your pots at Richo into your narrative - amazing at times!Bluthy wrote:He has an artists hands - they almost have a life of their own. Re: Jack "Man of" Steele
you can see why north threw a bid on him at 14. Superman is an unreal pick up for us, bargain for a second round pick.

Really? Jack Steven usually sprays the kick, maybe because he's run ragged by the time boot gets to ball.Stephen Theodore wrote:Interesting question, personally I doubt it, hope I'm wrong. Steele is like a Ferrari, he has skill, and he can finish too.
Not just a GOP, for me, in 2 years, he'll be at Fyfe/Dangerfield level.
In the NEAFL, he averaged 36 disposals, 8 tackles.
Can we compare different leagues? Too early to call?
I like him and he has all the tools.

Brilliant pick up by our recruiters Steele will be a super star. A poster on BF likened him to a young Rory Sloane which is spot on IMO.

Will be very good but not elite.
Blake Acres is a chance at elite. The way he breaks through tackles and kicks 60 m is already something special.

He knows where to run to, he can handball like a Swans midfielder, he has vision,
he's our version of The Bont, for mine

I don't know about that. We did play the Hawks and Tony described the game as bruise free footySemperFidelis wrote:Tony had us on watch for him having a rest this week. Glad he didn't. .

Indeed. Looks a great get for what may turn out to be a pick in the late 20's. Smart recruiting.Wombat15 wrote:you can see why north threw a bid on him at 14. Superman is an unreal pick up for us, bargain for a second round pick.
