Re: Who needs a rest in the 2's?
Longer was jumping at ball ups and throw ups.
Unfortunately his hitouts were rarely to advantage.
Hickey does not jump in the ruck but is more valuable around the ground.

Out: Longer, Dunstan, Bruce and Long
In: Hickey, Sinclair, Marshall and Stevens
I never thought I say it, but I'm sick of watching Bruce miss easy set shots and his 2nd efforts are terrible.

Definitely Gresham. Had s*** all over his hands and let the ball slip a few times. Long also, was in la la land.
Koby Stevens needs to play as does Sinclair. Given McCartin one more week in the twos.

A few efforts by Bruce were a little lame...

Long - not really a rest, just not best 22 and has seen what it takes now
Dunstan - Let him crack 25+ disposals there a few times.
Gilbert - Played ok, I just want to see Dmac get a run, (a combo of robbo, web, and dmac is awesome going forward)
Bruce - Our key target, has been reading the flight poorly, wont be dropped because he is 2nd ruck
Longer - Looked sore, didn't provide a tall target out of defense, just generally not involved out of the ruck which we lost anyway

Re: Who needs a rest in the 2's?
Carlisle- Cockatoo took him on, and Jake stood up for himself. He has pride. Also has a lot of skill and footy brains, been out of the game for a yearelizabethr wrote:Carlisle. ..undisciplined loser

but you wouldn't know it, he runs to the right spots and is a fantastic KPP.
Brown- Tom Hawkins averages 4 goals against us, Brownie held him most of the day, Tom got 2 late when our whole team was buggered.
I really love Brownie, he's also a fantastic KPP
Weller- he averages 14 disposals a game, his role is forward pressure. Does his job
Longer- I thought he won a few hit-outs and tried, but yes, he should go back to the VFL
Montagna- he must be washing the coaches cars or something, how does he keep getting kicks.
Don't hate the Mexicans. Would you be happier if all our players came from The Sunshine State?

Hey, I understand your pain.elizabethr wrote:My apologies for such a gloomy outlook
I hate Gilbert and want him out of the freakin team forever.
He's a current-day version of Clint Jones, except without the huge number of possessions.
I want Bwoose to be dropped to Zebs until he can learn to mark the ball instead of slapping it like a volleyball.

Elizabethr. Whoever you are, go away. We don't appreciate trolls here. Especially those who hide behind a manufactured persona. PM citywesr. You two should have a lot to discuss. Have fun.

Lay off Gilbert ffs.
The continual bagging on here of Sammy just goes to show the lack of footballing knowledge of so called supporters who think they know more than the coach.
It gives me the s***s.

I completely agree. He does everything the coaches ask of him each week, in multiple roles.as well. That tackle on Motlop was outstanding and saved a goal from being scored.saynta wrote:Lay off Gilbert ffs.

Re: Who needs a rest in the 2's?
Bruce. Has struggled for nearly his last 30 games. Gives us little up forward and cant ruck at all. New ideas neaded. Bring in Marshall. Couldn't be any worse up forward and couldn't possibly be worse as a 2nd ruck.

Re: Who needs a rest in the 2's?
Just on Bruce
His energy to make himself a target and particularly to apply defensive pressure by chasing and tackling were the factors that impressed with his game
I don't doubt that the effort or the commitment are still there but for some reason the results are not
Granted he has a profile now so has attention
So any suggestions?
Asking too much by rucking him?
Forward entry deficiencies?
Carrying an injury?
Carrying too much weight impacting on his mobility - and is that additional weight to take on rucking responsibilities?
We need the sheer athletic ability back - and the pace

Re: Who needs a rest in the 2's?
Seems to be that Bruce is a second forward/centre half-forward type, and is really struggling to impose himself against the best defenders in the league. If you bring McCartin back in, our forward structure changes completely. Rooey plays his wing role, going up and down back, Bruce can work his way up the ground and use his fitness to tire out his opponents more and can make link up plays. It just means that Paddy is sacrificed to the best defender and his performance would be effected by that8856brother wrote:Bruce. Has struggled for nearly his last 30 games. Dunstan
Can't think of a starting midfielder in the game that only gets 10-16 possessions every week and still gets picked.
D-Mac , Stevens' very stiff.

Re: Who needs a rest in the 2's?
Would a coach send their best defender (ie/Talia) to McCartin or Bruce? I know who I'd send him to... only Roo would supersede Bruce imo
