Counter attack is the new black forbA coaches, IMO. It's what you do when you have a relatively weak list with a few stars. Unlike in soccer, I don't think it's a premiership-winning approach, but you can win some games and keep boards and fans fairly happy.

Leigh Matthews was arguably the greatest to ever play the game.
He never won a Brownlow Medal because that is awarded to the FAIREST and best. Leigh was what, as kindly as I can put it, a dirty player. In fact, the only player I know of at senior level to have assault charges laid against them for an on-field misdemeanor, which resulted in a conviction.
Now, the great one sits as pontiff wanting to hang Billy Longer in public for an of the ball contact with Selwood.
It seems he has not left all his dog acts to his playing days.
