Changes
I can only think of one right now which would be Lonie...
Jack Stevens would be a walk in...
Then we have
K Stevens
Meatball
Sinclair
Does Long get dropped, I don't think so...
We need hard bodies for Geelong, would like to see K Stevens play..

You realise he has never played one single game in the VFL. Not one. Zero. Nil.

Re: Changes
Wellar had a much better second half and definitely won't be dropped as we need his hardness against the cats.
Jack Steven to come in (not sure who is dropped), and potentially Minchington for Lonie

Re: Changes
Agree with Con on Dunstan. Hasn't done enough to keep his spot atm. I know he's tough (goes in hard, doesn't give it up easily in a contest but you need to hurt the opposition with your disposal). Good bloke. Great leadership qualities, but if you don't get it enough or if you can't distribute the footy well enough and you're not elite in other aspects, it's time to try some others.
Dunstan is replaceble imo. Give Sinclair, Minch and Stevens a go.

Was there ever a "Roo's" or "Lenny's" World before they'd played enough to be respected?

I'm a huge Dunstan fan but the stats say he was pretty ordinary today...
Really want to see Koby in the team
Steven comes in for Lonie
Minch is the other one I'd like to see have a go... Long perhaps?

Look, he does his yoga and meditation, you'd expect him to be grounded.
But he appears to have actually gone backwards since last year.
Not sure what to make of Mav's World

Re: Changes
There is no way Dunstan will make way for either of Minchington or Sinclair
Minchington's one adequate performance was v Geelong at Docklands when he snagged a couple of first half goals before disappearing from the contest when Geelong paid attention to him
Steven in with Lonie out
The Coach acknowledged that we went in small to attempt to lock the ball in our F50 so strategy v Geelong may see McCartin return to give us taller targets in attack
It is interesting that both out mid field recruits are prolix if hand ballets from weekend stats
And, of course, that Freeman got thru
On Geary who I catagorise as a honest and willing toiler today he added a couple of impressive contests including one which actually took out 2 opponents - far, far preferable to taking out team mates!!!
And Webster is now keeping his feet in the contest
Billings showed he belongs and I would anticipate Long will be given a further chance
Collingwood with their much praised mid field as far and away the best in the competition - if not ever - in the AFL were beaten
The Murdoch paper circulation will drop significantly tomorrow!!!

Re: Changes
Jack Steven is obviously an automatic inclusion.
Steele could make way for K Stevens, although his game was quite decent.
Lonie probably stays in. He is working really hard as a small forward and it will turn for him. Minchington is knocking the door down and no doubt will be considered
Geelong's back six is their weakness and its a big one. McCartin has to be seriously considered.
Armo didn't end the game in great shape so there's a query on his fitness. If he goes out you cannot drop Dunstan. Anyway Dunstan isn't going anywhere, I don't think people realise what he does at the coal face.

Re: Changes
Lonie second worst fantasy points 45 from 74% game time
Worst fantasy points 37 from 71% game time .......
Ben Long
That first game is always tough. you are playing with guys who you have never played with before.
Is he in our best 22 bfor next week obviously not
BUT should we play him again - now that's a totally different question.
Normally you expect to give a newbie a handful of games so he gets to know what is expected of him then send him back down to work on his game.

Re: Changes
Big difference between AFL and VFL football
Unless you are class recovering from injury and looking for game time to prove fitness, VFL players need to be consistently performing - and AFL players under performing against the benchmarks set for them
I thought all of our players had their moments today and would look at this match as a benchmark toward a performance where those contributions are significantly on show
All today showed they should be there - but Jack is an automatic inclusion so one goes out
And, as said before, the structure may be changed v Geelong so McCartin is definitely in the mix

Huge game coming up.
Season on the line stuff in some ways.
Geelong will be battling for a spot in the 8 along with us, demons, suns and power so we cant really afford to give them a leg-up.

Re: Changes
I have always supported Dunstan's inclusion but has had a poor year and today was his worst. Maybe he needs to go back to VFL to find some form.
Surely Lonie can't survive another week with the other options available.
Steven to come in along with any of Stevens, Sinclair, Minchington.
I personally would love to see Sinclair given another chance. He has class written all over him, just needs to get the ball more.

Granted Dunstan should have kicked goals, however he was not on his Pat Malone there.coopergrech wrote:Lonie and Dunstan both bad again....
He was clearly sharing (with Jack Steele) the negating role on Pendlebury - and quite effectively too.
