The only time I have ever threatened not to renew my membership was this year if Geary was made captain.
Knowing it was going to happen I renewed last year avoiding the dilemma!

Re: For what it's worth
the criticism of Dunst is valid sure but Armo and Ross are very much protected species on this site. Armo in particular should be doing a lot more than he did last night that's for sure. Sure he was injured last season but the fact is that he should be our premier midfielder alongside Jack.desertsaint wrote:dunstan was poor, but the best of he, armo, and ross. much better disposal than most yesterday.
kicked his set shot when all others missed theirs.
He's not.

See ya, don't let the door hit you on the way out. (By the way, paying monthly in no way entitles you to cancel at any time throughout the year, it's just an easier way to pay for people who can't afford the one off sum)WellardSaint wrote:My membership is paid monthly.

Pick Gilbo in Rd 3, and I will definitely cancel my membership.

Considering we won 12 games last year and only just missed out on the finals by percentage that's a pretty amazing feat by StevenJohnny Member wrote:Jack Steven is all we've got.Zed wrote:Our season got on a roll in the back half of last season when we brought in wright, Minch and DMac. All have speed, apply enormous tackle pressure and are intense at the contest. Yesterday we just looked slow. Combined with the fact Jack Steven and Mav had off days , you can see why we were soundly beaten. I can see what they were looking for when they recruited Ben Long.
We need to learn how to negate good oppo mids quick smart because WC are arguably stronger in the midfield than Melb and it could be a blood bath.

The disappointment/rage of that loss was so thickly layered on Richo's face during the press conference you could have jack hammered into it and still wouldn't have come close to scratching the basal layer
Even though he responded with measured calmness I don't think i have ever seen him that whacked after a game since he took the job - it was excruciating to look at
Unlikely to win this week but expect to see a better showing if his face was anything to go by

I've paid for my ticket for this weekend (interstate members get one free game in their state, and pay $61 per ticket for the other) so I can go watch the Witches Hats get belted...and i will ring the club Monday week and tell em to go jump.BringBackMadDog wrote:See ya, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Greg Tivendale managed 188 games for god's sake.
Are we the new Richmond?
Drafting Petracca ahead of McCartin, would've been doing a Richmond.

Re: For what it's worth
It's so much a question of being 'fit enough' to run out the game...all afl teams players are roughly as fit as the other. They're aren't a great difference between what clubs do in pre season, roughly speaking...the issue with us looking really cooked is more about how the players have had they're training periodised and planned their taper off for rd 1 to be 'fit' and 'fresh'. It wouldn't be an easy balance be wise unlike an Olympic athlete, it's a 6 month season so their is a balance between 'fit' and 'fresh' for rd 1...and for whatever reason, I reckon the sports science guys got it wrong for us this year...how it affects us for the next month is hopefully not too bad!dragit wrote:Yes, this is the only really worrying thing I have read about the game…Jacks Back wrote:Houston, we have a problem!tony74 wrote: To answer other queries we have basically no idea why we run out of puff,

1/4 time, in which we went pretty hard, three guys on their haunches after the siren sounded...not sure who they were, but did not expect to see guys run into the ground after 25 minutes.Junior wrote:Looking at last night it looked like Ross,Membrey, Armitage were sore, they were running on the spot.
The ruck points are interesting, as although the coach is new to his senior position, there weren't many changes to the Melbourne teams we played in 2016 (other than Lewis, who we seemingly failed to notice was on the ground...no man with him most of the day), The Beard didn't play any different than last year, and I can't remember the third man up really coming into play for us at all previously. Suddenly, we can't compete in ruck (around the ground, in addition to the bounce) and we're unprepared for their 'new' coach??? Very odd.
I'd be very surprised if Melbourne finished above us this year, as well as they did against us, but we need to revise our netball game plan as soon as we get back from our 100 point pantsing next week.

No we're fit enough. Just think the build up etc might have got to them. It looked like we had played the game before we ran out. Re: For what it's worth
I would expect the coach to have this under control leading into Round 1, and whatever he said to the group at quarter time must have put them to sleep. All games are important, and the first one sets a good tone for the club when we win. I think I would have liked to have seen just little bit more anger on Richo's face after the poor effort, rather than the matter of fact "that wasn't very good was it" attitude of his presser.tony74 wrote:No we're fit enough. Fun fact: Acres played 6 less games in his first 2 seasons at this club than Jamie cripps in his 2 seasons, who some say didn't get opportunity under Lyon.
