Jack Scrimshaw (Sandringham Dragons/Beaumaris/Haileybury)
Any chance that this guy slides to 23? He is exactly what we need IMHO plus he is a Jack, a left footer and a local kid. Ticks all the boxes IMHO.
Born: 4.9.98
Height: 193cm
Weight: 80kg
AFL bio: Lightly built left footer who can play a variety of roles including in defence, midfield and forward. Shows poise and distributes the ball effectively particularly by hand. Strong overhead and is rangy, athletic type. Member of the NAB AFL Academy.
"The Excitement Package. On pure talent, he could be No.1 in the draft I think. He hasn't played a lot of footy and he's had some injuries. He played for Metro before he played for us this year. His body's a bit underdeveloped because of that, but some of his movements and ball handling leave you shaking your head. He needs to knuckle down and get his body right, because if he does he could be scary good. He's a friendly, affable young fella and it will be interesting to see where he settles. We know he can play half back, we know he can play forward, so the next challenge is to build his tank and see if he can play a midfield position as well. Time will tell with that, but you can't deny his talent, it's oozing out of him."

Twomey, who is pretty accurate normally, has him at 10. Chance of him getting to 23 close to 0.
15 at the latest.

Fingers crossed. Mathieson slid to 39, nobody saw that.Con Gorozidis wrote:Twomey, who is pretty accurate normally, has him at 10. Chance of him getting to 23 close to 0.

He's a bit of a d**khead, but he will probably out into his place by the senior players no matter where he goes

No chance of being there at 23. Injury prone and a bit of a FIGJAM, but some are saying he is Bont-like and will go 5-10, maybe even earlier. We can only dream.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

I wish!!!! He'll go in top 10, personally i'd have him in a top 5 if i was to pick who'd be the best and not based on any clubs needs.
I'd say top 5 are as followers in no particular order
Tim Taranto
Andrew McGrath
Jack Scrimshaw
Hugh McCluggage
Jack Bowes/Will Brodie/Griffen Logue/Oliver Florent.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Re: Jack Scrimshaw (Sandringham Dragons/Beaumaris/Haileybury
I've been following him pretty closely this year through a connection with Haileybury. Terrific talent but a FIGJAM of the highest order and not that well liked.Proph3t of egan wrote:He's a bit of a d**khead, but he will probably out into his place by the senior players no matter where he goes
We won't get him at 23 but the consolation is that we might bring in someone who may not be as talented but be of better character.

Too many figjams in this world. I say that we should infect them with a mould. I'm sick of them!
Turn them into penicillin, at least they're good for something

Re: Jack Scrimshaw (Sandringham Dragons/Beaumaris/Haileybury
I dont buy in to the whole 'good bloke bad bloke' personality stuff - especially when we are talking about 18 year old kids. It wouldnt stop me recruiting him if he is the best player available at our pick. This dude will be well gone by 23. I expect him to go to the GC at pick 10. But sure if he is there at 23 take him. Zero chance of this. Next.

He has also indicated that he does not want to be drafted to an interstate team

Actually, clubs take that very much into account, as it would indicate that the player is very likely to wish for a trade home early in their careermagnifisaint wrote:He doesn't have a say.Proph3t of egan wrote:He has also indicated that he does not want to be drafted to an interstate team
