Bad luck for the kid if true. He's been a very impressive VFL forward last season.

Re: Shenton delisted
Very good VFL footballer.
Wasn't given much of a chance to show his ability at AFL level. Too many in front of him.
good luck to the boy.

He just seemed to lack that bit of class at AFL level particularly his disposal.saynta wrote:Very good VFL footballer.

They may rookie him later.

BREAKING NEWS
The Age is reporting that Cameron Shenton has not been offered a new contract.
Shenton was voted Sandringham's Best & Fairest, and finished second in the VFL leading goalkickers for 2016.
It is still unknown whether other un-contracted players, such as Sam Fisher, will be with the Saints next season.

I can still remember sandy Roberts yelling about "the wild man from the mountains" when he booted a long goal as we thumped freo in 2014. Best of luck to him.
Same game that Billy longer pulled the old "look at the scoreboard" trick.

Re: Shenton delisted
I liked him from the first time I saw him play for sandi
His only problem was he was a turn over machine .
Sadly nothing changed over the years .
all the best to him

Re: Shenton delisted
With Steele and Stevens having both being recruited, both within 1 cm of Shenton in height with big bodies and able to play HF and midfield, Shenton's fate was sealed as if he could not crack it for a game in 2016 without them at the club, he certainly would not with them now at the club for 2017.
In 2016 even though he was going well as a forward at Sandi, the form of Membrey and Weller locked him out of the senior side.

Re: Shenton delisted
Tough place to get a spot on the list at the moment. Will Chips Fisher even get the rookie listed player/coach role?

Re: Shenton delisted
Understandable in many ways, but still very sad to see him go.
Was a terrific club man, wild man and all around cool dude.
All the best to the Panther! I really hope he gets picked up.

Re: Shenton delisted
One of our "lost generation" who were in a s*** development environment in their crucial first few years and didn't seem to get the direction he needed. Probably lacked a real weapon as well - was ok at everything and a real tryer but nothing stood out. Could still be a force in the VFL where he blossomed at the end of last year.

Re: Shenton delisted
Too many back flankers on our list, so the writing was on the wall. Rookie selection, played some good games for us. Aerobically, he didn't have a big tank, and I think that worked against him. You feel for guys like Cam Shenton. Well played and thanks.

Re: Shenton delisted
Tough call but the right one IMO - I think Shents just lacked the class needed for the top level
Hope he stays at Sandy at least

Re: Shenton delisted
Should end up on a list somewhere.
Would be a good fit at Richmond IMO.

Bad luck for Cam, but a total of seven will have to be moved off the Senior list. So far, Curren, Delaney, and Shenton. My tip is Eli, Tom Lee, Murdoch, and Sam Fisher are yet to go. Anyone see it differently?

Re: Shenton delisted
That's correct if we are taking three picks in the draft as well as upgrading Holmes.borderbarry wrote:Bad luck for Cam, but a total of seven will have to be moved off the Senior list. Not sure who we will get with 61 unless we pick up a delisted/uncontracted player like Everitt or Xavier Richards.
It's possible Eli or Chips be picked up as a rookie list player.

Is there any rule against re-rookie-ing someone who has already been on the rookie list before (Templeton I mean)?longtimesaint wrote:That's correct if we are taking three picks in the draft as well as upgrading Holmes.borderbarry wrote:Bad luck for Cam, but a total of seven will have to be moved off the Senior list.
