We may like to have a player with his ability but we definitely don't "need" the "D" head that is "D" Martin!Vazelos wrote:Dusty Martin for me.. he is the one we can get and need

Re: Available free agents. Who to target
For me it's
1. Fyfe (best player if fit but would cost a lot of dollars)
2. Breust (great fit, with McClunkin, Bruce and Membrey they could all kick 40 plus a year
3. Martin (dynamic game breaker, despite being a questionable character doesn't seem to drag others down
4. Josh Kennedy (WC gun, as with Breust would make forward options ridiculous)
5. Josh Kennedy (Sydney awesome consistent player who would add to any side chasing a flag

Both kennedys for the right price, but I would expect others to pay more than we would be prepared to based on needs.

Re: Available free agents. Who to target
Bruest would be nice to go with either of Kelly or Shiel. Any of the others (Fyfe et al) would cost a bomb and are unlikely to move in any event.
We also need some of these small forwards (Gresham / Billings) to move into the midfield.
We'd be well placed for 5-8 years if we could get these done.

Re: Available free agents. Who to target
I think that there is a big difference between Free agents. and Restricted Free Agents. The type of player that would genuinely make a huge difference to our list would most likely be a RFA and not a FA...and that unfortunately means that the other original club can match the contract and keep the player. So you either have to pay a ridiculous contract that will hamstring your list going forward or you will just have to trade (though probably at a discount to a player that was not a RFA).avid wrote:Leaving aside aalary costs and character defects:

Fyfe will be a Restricted Free Agent? If so Freo can match and so offer would have to be huge. Given that they are rebuilding too, they may be able to match. So Fyfe may well be a trade in the end.
Ditto for Martin but his trade and $$ cost would be less. So of the Free Agents Martin is the one that would be the one that I would really go after.
I believe our real targets next year really need to be one of Kelly or Shiel. These will be trades, but with two 2017 First Rounders and one 2018 we are well positioned for such a trade.
An achievable and excellent outcome could be say Kelly and Martin. Fyfe would most likely just be Fyfe and if he does not re-sign I suspect his price will be "overs" as the Blues love messiahs.

Yeah but imagine the problem of having two Josh Kennedy's in the same team.Rosco wrote:Both kennedys for the right price, but I would expect others to pay more than we would be prepared to based on needs.
Opposition players: Who is on Josh Kennedy, I am, no I am, coach who is on Josh Kennedy. You are on Josh Kennedy and you are on Josh Kennedy.
And the poor caller from Champion Data: Josh Kennedy kick, inside 50, Josh Kennedy mark, Josh Kennedy handball, Josh Kennedy kick, Josh Kennedy goal.

What about GWS? I thought a few of them were becoming free agents?
I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.

Fyfe, Martin, Zaharakis, Pittard, Bruest and possibly Rory Thompson are all players I hope we will pursue.

He is Gold Coast, they have been in longer. Also, they are counting the year before the Gold Coast started when they played in the NEAFLstevie wrote:How does Rory count then? Just curioussaintsRrising wrote:linz wrote:What about GWS? I thought a few of them were becoming free agents?

The "D head" pulled his head in and polled 25 Brownlow votes finishing 3rd, if he has another year like that free of any scandals thats good enough for me and Im sure most club recuiters.St Plugger wrote:We may like to have a player with his ability but we definitely don't "need" the "D" head that is "D" Martin!Vazelos wrote:Dusty Martin for me.. he is the one we can get and need
