Only game of ours he officiated this year was the highly contentious v Hawks Round 4
Well that is an ominous coincidence.... I was at that game and I am not normally one to whinge about umps or buy in to conspiracy theories but the plot thickens here. The umpiring in that game was very odd.... I am going back to check the replay to see if he was involved....
Edit: was with 14.20 to go in last. Umpire was Andrew Stevens. Was a very suss last qtr. Should be reviewed. Pannell was right there. Did they collude?
The seaming wickets and lower bounce in England ( where Lawry toured three times ) made it more likely he would be adjudged LBW than in Aus , where the bowlers were using the bouncier wickets to knock him in the Snoz. Terry Alderman will vouch for the greater numbers of LBWs to be had in England.
By the way , I love how we veered onto this topic of hometown LBW decisions. This is a fun forum!

But only two of them were in England.
1 in India
1 in the West Indies
3 in South Africa
BTW, am I to believe the source of these allegations is a combination of Crackers Keenan and the good people of Facebook?

He benefitted from the bizarre LBW law in place during the 1970-71 series as well. The batsman could not be out unless the ball pitched in line with the stumps. So as well as anything pitching outside leg not being out, anything pitching outside off couldn't be given out, either. As a result, only two LBW decisions were given in the entire series! It reminds me of a joke. A piece of graffiti in England in 1981, after Alderman took 42 wickets, 19 of them LBW. Someone scrawled 'Thatcher Out!' Someone else added, 'LBW bowled Alderman'. Thank you I'm here all week. I recommend the veal!
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
