Great to see the name of Frosty Miller on the top goalkicker trophy . After the 66 GF Alan Morrow retired from the VFL and moved to Dandenong as Captain Coach, and I followed him across and became a 'Nongers fan. ( It was easy in those days - VFL on Saturday and VFA on Sunday ). Frosty Miller was his star full forward , and Pat Flaherty his gun forward flanker ( think a poor man's George Young) , and the Redlegs were a fabulous team to watch - very successful for well over a decade. Bongo Payze, Buggsy Moran , Alan Harper etc went across there from the Saints in subsequent years , and they played some cracking games at Shepley Reserve and in finals including at the Junction Oval.

Frosty Miller played 183 games for Dandy and kicked 885 goals. Plugger played 183 games for the Saints and kicked 898 goals. Clearly the VFA was a lesser competition, but Frosty' s figures are extremely impressive. The VFA in those days was a much better standard than today, and a very very tough game. Frosty would have kicked far more behinds than Plugger. He kicked left foot torps for goal- even from the goalsquare - and sprayed quite a few. He was also a master of drawing a free for holding the man. All 'Nonger fans loved him. Great player. Great character. Good onya, Frosty !

Spot on George, VFA was great in the '60s and '70s. Frosty was Garfield's finest, amazing he didn't stay in the VFL for longer wih Carlton.

Correct me if I'm wrong - didn't Pat Flaherty play Under 19's at StKilda?

Surely Eli is a lock for Sandy B & F and a contract extension?
What more could he do this year as a 20yo?

I think AR may have chosen to play Eli purely in the VFL for his development with a view to see if he could dominate at that level, while he used the small forward position to develop and give others like Gresh an intro to the game.
It would seem strange to delist him unless he didn't develop enough to make the next step next season.
I guess we will know soon enough.

More likely to be traded. A number of clubs interested. The boy wants game time.

He was still with us in June this year. Although I never knew that he'd played for Carlton.

Yes Kosi- Frosty's short time at the Blues is a black mark on an otherwise stellar career. Still, 29 goals in 11 games, in the years when the Coleman medal was won with 68 and 56 goals respectively, showed he could definitely play.
