Our injury toll this year

Post: # 1632133Post shrodes »

...was surprisingly low. Hope I don't jinx us by saying so, but we had both the fewest number of games missed to injury amongst all our players (107), and amongst our experienced (50 game plus) players (35), according to this:

From memory we only had two very bad injuries which were Goddard's achilles and Dunstan's shoulder, and the rest were all fairly minor.

How much of this is put down to luck vs. better conditioning / facilities / staff?

We're 16th on the AFL Injury Ladder.

We're 13th for Most Tackles, so possibly the running game as opposed to a 'crash and bash' style may be a factor in our good run with injuries.

Or, it could just be good old fashioned luck.

So are you saying that corralling, harassing, running down or closing in on opponents is the safer option (in applying pressure and bringing about turnovers) compared to tackling (where's there's potential for the tackler to injure themselves via the bash and crash approach) ... and the reason we are avoiding injuries?
