Re: List your positives in here
DMacs kicking and preparing to take the game on
Acres all round
Ross's and Gresh's decision making
We matched it with probably the leagues best team in the 1st half - next year our team will be better stronger and further developed - lots to look forward to - not a lot for opposition teams to look forward to

Re: List your positives in here
The first half was fabulous, played at great intensity by both teams. We really matched them.
Acres really looking the goods.
Armo finding some of his best in-and-under form early.
DMAc accelerating through the lines.
Gresh looking at home in the middle .
Hickey till injured looking again like a dominant marking ruckman.
That Joey and Roo still make fabulous contributions.
Paddy got through the game ok.
Good thread, Con.

Wrighty's goal. An absolutely ripper.
Paddy's McClunks.
Seb and Jack N. Solid.

Re: List your positives in here
The first half was a positive - and would have been improved if we were allowed to Umpire the game as some of the Sydney players do.
The second half was disappointing but did show those who continue to perform when numbers and decisions are against them.
In terms of the trend of the match, the most positive was Hickey including because once he went off we really struggled at the clearances where the ball was consistently put to the advantage of their numbers.
Even on one leg Hickey was influential.
Another positive was Fisher and the organisation he bought to our defence - assisted by Gilbert. Again, once Fisher departed that organisation was lost altho Gilbert continued to battle manfully against the odds.
Then we get to Acres - and he will be a super star of this competition.
We got the efforts we did from Riewoldt, Weller, Armitage, Steven, Ross, Montagna and Newnes.
We got some signs from Gresham and McCartin and both will only get better.
The need to ruck Bruce then impacted on McCartin and Membrey because they could then be double teamed - and forward entries dried up as we lost the mid field contests and the pressure saw fumbling (plus the bounces seemed to go against us all night - combined with the umpiring which clearly frustrated our players, we had absolutely no luck at any stage).
Dunstan was sorely missed.
The other obtuse positive is that we saw which players and positions we need to improve in because there were several non contributors.
And surely Billings can improve - significantly.
At this stage you would be saying that Acres was the Number 3 Draft Pick and Billings was Number 18.
We know we get Carlisle, Dunstan, Longer, Goddard and Freeman for the 2017 pre-season and they add size where we need it and class where we need it.
But we still require a half dozen more particularly medium sized defenders where we lack and potent, contest winning mids who can also contribute to the spread.

Positives: plenty of improvement to come form a lot of the younger guns. Negative- old backline not applying enough physical pressure

Absolutely loved Acres game, he really imposed himself and he's hitting the scoreboard.
Gresham just keeps looking increasingly comfortable especially through the midfield.
Weller, Ross and Newnes are becoming very very consistent.

Acres for mine. Even in the last quarter he was giving the Swans the runaround. With ball in hand he moves in a Lenny-like fashion, that can only be good for us.

Dempsters goal - the crowd cheered and when they realised who it was went even crazier.
Wrights goal - he's got an eye for those snap goals
Acres rape and pillaging in the first half - has the tools to be anything
Weller is firming as possible captain - he's just so damn passionate, he never stops trying and bashing in
Thought Fish was doing a great job marshalling the backline until the collision
Hickey was manful playing on with an injury
Roo is playing great footy in that wing/midfield role - its given him another lease on footy life
Mids Ross, Acres, STeven, Armo all got good numbers - but just shows its not just getting it but using it well that matters

Re: List your positives in here
After the Roos game I thought we couldn't make the finals, however, was hoping I was wrong. Our 'developing team' gave it a shot and really did try and match the best in the comp. You are always a danger of injuries when you try too hard against a stronger opposition.
A very good season under the circumstances I think. Looking forward the next few years, when the kids get a bit of meat on them and the team is juggled around a bit\ - we have a great future.
