And now another 50 - the umpire didnt even tell him to come back - the umpire should have been in there showing him the mark as the play had stopped because he was having a shot - McVeigh had his back to the goals

As ex-president Peter Summers said:

The worst part was when the wankers were complaining about an over the shoulder free to us.grudgingly had to admit that the free kick was there.shrodes wrote:Always so gutless, heaven forbid they ever just say the umpiring has been terrible.saintfox wrote:Comontators are a joke

I think we need to give these kids more time..I think they have surprised all already..I don't anyone expected us to do so well this year so talk of trading our youngsters is a bit premature if not silly.

Agree but Hurley is current AA. I certainly wouldnt do it for anything less than an AA player. The Fireman wrote:I think we need to give these kids more time..I think they have surprised all already..I don't anyone expected us to do so well this year so talk of trading our youngsters is a bit premature if not silly.

Seriously, calm down! Billings is going nowhere. Reminds me if the criticism BJ used to cop before he matured into a star.

His name is Joel Creasey. He is a comedian , who was hired by the Saints tonight, presumably due to his high profile and his proud involvement in the LGBTI Community. He said it was his first ever AFL game , so you need not be concerned he will be there for the next home game. I thought he was great, but recognise he is not everybody's cup of tea.The_President wrote:Tell you what, whoever the onfield announcer is tonight, I hope we never get him back. I much preferred him to that 'whiny voiced' girl we've had all year.SemperFidelis wrote:He was great. Spot on for the event.George27 wrote:His name is Joel Creasey. This from Wiki
In 2011, Creasey was abused and chased by an aggressive group of teenagers after his show in Colac. He was presenting at Straight Shooters anti-discrimination event, held by local community group DYNAMIC. The group of teenagers threatened to beat Creasey and his friends for being homosexual.[15] In 2014, Creasey returned to Colac with fellow comedian Rhys Nicholson as a part of an ABC documentary entitled Gay Crashers.

Saints v Swans
Impressed with the team up till half time in terms of being right in the game. Good kicking early was definately commendable. Paddy coming back in and kicking well and marking well was also encouraging. I enjoyed Paddy's highlights and team plays.
Then there is the 2nd. half. the swans appeared to be running on greater strength levels. They looked very very strong with the added advantage of a very well rehearsed game-plan that seriously impinged on what the Saints could do.
I simply thought we are still a developing team / plenty of young guys up against a tackle resilient group with loads of confidence blended with their tough edge.
The umpires seemed hardly aware of how they were swinging the direction of the game especially on the score board. Too many times they favoured a swans free when it wasn't at all an obvious swans free.
The commentators? Yikes ! The B.T. guy really brings the atmosphere down down deeper and down. The daddy long legs analoggies did it for me forcing me to watch the idiot box with the volume on one or two.
anyway. I expect the swans to be grand finalists and for us to maintain our up-ward progress. I admit expectations were high at the half-time break for myself but I did think if the swans improve their efficiency their strength would get them over the line.
Have to say the 2nd. rate umpiring put the players in unnescessary danger. Umpire emphasis seemed too often to be focused on real technical interpretations while not being aware of the physical dangers involved.
One to go so I hope the players get the most out of it.
