Re: Eli Templeton
Eli's on top of the delist list and I'm pretty sure he knows it.
Never worked hard enough on his defensive game and had his ticket stamped months ago.

Look at a guy like Rory Atkins who hadnt even played an AFL game until he was just 21.

People are way too quick to write young players off on here.
Eli had hamstring tightness last week.

Re: Eli Templeton
Agree. Spots may open up for players like him, Sinclair and Lonie over the next couple of seasons. We'll need a replacement in Joey's role, for instance. There will be injuries, form issues, suspensions. They've just got to be in the right place at the right time and take their chances.Goose is king wrote:I would of thought there was no chance of Eli being delisted

You are spot on - a lot of it comes down to luck, just being in the right place at the right time.
Eli was tried in a few games and just couldn't defend when we had a plethora of small forwards.
Richo places a huge emphasis on forward pressure and that's why Minch has leapfrogged Sinclair and Lonie.

Re: Eli Templeton
Eli has been a very strong tackler this year from what I have seen.
I am just perplexed on people negging on him. He has been doing everything asked of him in the VFL. When he played in the AFL he wasnt disgraced. He is only 20.
Obviously guys like Curren/Lee/Shenton/Delaney/Murdoch are more likely to be de-listed than Eli.

Re: Eli Templeton
He was dropped solely for his lack of defensive pressure - this includes amongst other things his inability to lay tackles.Con Gorozidis wrote:Eli has been a very strong tackler this year from what I have seen.

Re: Eli Templeton
no chance of being delisted, hes 20 and consistently in the best in the VFL. Think about how long it took Ross to get a senior spot. Eli will be given at least another 2 years and I think will be a good 10 year player for us

I'm flabbergasted by the crap that gets posted on this site. I mean apart from the coaching staff who the f*** knows what goes on between the four walls of the club.

My mail is that he is gone - now that might be he'll be put up for trade but I doubt it.
Richos persistence in playing him in the VFL when he's getting 30+ disposals and not even considering him for a senior spot should be a clue.
We also have an abundance of Eli types and to me it makes sense to shore up our stocks where we have a shortage.
Time will tell but your comment seems to show a complete lack of understanding about the reality of AFL football - some just don't make it.

Re: Eli Templeton
Id be flabbergasted if Eli is delisted. 20yo and will be top 3 in Sandy B and F.
Went back to VFL and laid plenty of tackles.
Needs to find a position. He isnt a small fwd. I see him as a small defender.

Re: Eli Templeton
Not disputing your mail.
Just saying imo the bloke keeping Eli out of the side atm is Joey.
Surely Curren Murdoch and Lee are more likely to go?
The issue with most 20yos is they arent hard enough. This is normal.

Re: Eli Templeton
One of the big weaknesses we have had this season is the poor defensive work off the ball of some of our younger brigade..forwards and on-ballers. It's why Sinclair, Lonie and Eli can't cement a spot in the seniors, and until Richo sees that side of the game improve, it wouldn't matter how many possessions some players get in the VFL.

This is a real world opinion site.
If you can handle the truth, unsubscribe and jump on a site where you can be cuddled and feel warm and fuzzy.
Players get cut for reasons often that are hard to fathom.
Eli IS on the outer and as I've said my mail is that he will not be at the Saints next year.
How this is unbelievable nonsense is just that unbelievable nonsense.

Re: Eli Templeton
We have to delist 3, and Wright seems to be back in favour. So that leaves Shaggy, Curren and Eli very much on the outer

Re: Eli Templeton
I agree with offering him for trade but I wouldnt be delisting him. Only 2 seasons ago the kid was playing great footy at AFL level, had one of the worst broken arms you could imagine from playing the game. Now he is being condemned for his lack of defensive pressure - well if that was applied to every player on the list Montagna would have never played a game.lintonstreet wrote:There's an old saying my friend, don't shoot the messenger.Sainternist wrote:You're a comedian, right?lintonstreet wrote:Eli's on top of the delist list and I'm pretty sure he knows it.

If I was Eli after the terrific season he has had at VFL level and Richo not elevating him, I would be asking for a trade in any event.
I thought Richo was meant to be a good developer and judge of players - if what you say is correct LS then he has NFI!
