Changes v Swines
Love to see Membrey kick a bag in this one, just to press home the point of what they let slip away because Goodesy wanted to go on another season. I expect we'll stick with the policy of playing our best possible team, which I applaud.
In: McCartin
Out: Dunstan (inj)
Gresham, Acres, Weller to take up slack in midfield.
Should Acres be rubbed out, either Eli or Shenton in.

Why does he have to replace anyone? We've played he, Josh and Membrey in the same forward line before, successfully I might add.terry smith rules wrote:

He's kicked five in the twos and is a No. 1 draft pick. He's fully fit, otherwise he wouldn't be playing twos. He's just as likely to get ko'd in the twos as in the ones. Why wouldn't you pick him?
Get him back on the horse.

I am not saying don't play him, I think we need to consider team balance and if that can be worked , fantasticbigcarl wrote:Why does he have to replace anyone? We've played he, Josh and Membrey in the same forward line before, successfully I might add.terry smith rules wrote:

In other words replacing Dunstan with McCartin makes no sense to our structure. To beat the Swans we need a huge mid field effort and going in one short won't help.
If Wright does not play we need that forward pressure maintained and Shenton or D Mac fill that

Re: Changes v Swines
Like for like isn't necessarily the only way to go. When Paddy went down did we bring in another big forward to replace him? I don't think we did. Probably brought in another runner to try and stretch our opponent in a different way than Paddy does.
I think Gresham, Acres, Weller, Minchington, Billings can cover for Dunstan. In fact the unfortunate injury gives these guys the chance to step up rather than being consigned to a forward pocket.

Re: Changes v Swines
Paddy improves our structure and if opponents don't send their No.1 defender to him, he's really dangerous, making Membrey & Bruce a bigger handful and allowing the Skipper to play in midfield, which improves our ball movement. We're better with Paddy.

Re: Changes v Swines
We're going to see if some posters around here are right about Dunstan having no influence on our midfield. I suspect in his absence we will suffer quite a bit, but not sure who we can replace him with to handle the same sort of roles. I wonder if Mav might go into the centre a bit to smash some bodies around and block.

Panther and Paddy for Dunstan and Wright, both injured.
Not a swap, a realignment.
Eli still in with a chance if fit.

Weller might 'replace him' Paddy should come in and Dmac or Webster will complete the rotations.

Re: Changes v Swines
Bringing in Paddy would slow us down, but we're against the Swines and at Dockedlands, so IMHO that's a 'combination' we could do this against.
If we were at the 'G, I'd say pick a side to run 'em off their feet.
(BTW, I reckon we'd go better against Nuff Nuff at the 'G for that reason. Thoughts tony?
And I'd love another crack at Nuff Nuff. I reckon we'd have learnt our lessons, and we'd roll 'em this time.
They've peaked, and as expected, their peak isn't good enough. Watch 'em slide in 2017. )
Back to the topic. To 'boost' the mid field, I'm with Marto... I'd like so see Minch in there. Do it Richo'. Despite our new (and unbelievably way overdue ) new caring and sharing delivery into the forward 50, Minch still seems to get 'burnt'.
Eli IMHO, actually only 'really needs to play' if we are considering cutting him. I doubt that, so I'd actually be preferencing blokes we feel the need to 'look at' in the last few rounds.
In:
Paddy.
Webster (if fit - he's one of our best, why don't people rate this bloke??? ).
Minch (into the midfield! Do it Richo').
Out:
Dunstan.
Wright (both injured).
Oh, and we can damn well very much win this one!!!

I forgot Jimmy, too. In: McCartin, Webster. Out: Dunstan (inj), Wright.

Re: Changes v Swines
i'm in the same mind. but armo will need to get back some of his 2015 form to cover for dunstan. swing gresham, acres, and weller through the midfield (minch or templeton likely to get smashed if given dunstans role). webster in our best 22 anyway.saintbob wrote:IN: Webster and Templeton

Like for like, Paddy will have to wait another week for mine.
