Free Kick count
17-9
In our favour.
Who'd have thought ?
First time this year.
Don't fret- next week, against Shitney, normal service will resume

Re: Free Kick count
The number of free kicks is meaningless.
Look at all the decisions they make, marks, 50m penalties, paying advantage, and free kicks. It comes down to did they get the decisions right?

Plus that gift of a goal because the third umpire called " inconclusive, therefore a goal"
But there were 37 000 people including Saints supporters who were prepared to concede it was a point.

WHOLE ball has to cross the line for it to be a point.
Replay at the MCG from the camera which had the goal posts lined up goal post to goal post shows that not ALL the ball had crossed the line - thus still in play IMHO.
Thus goal it should have been.

Re: Free Kick count
Given that we'd be in the 8 if it wasn't for blatant cheating v North twice and Hawthorn this means SFA.

Agree totally with your assessment - it was a goal.BackFromUSA wrote:ozrulestrace wrote:

if the ball goes over the line, the whole ball...it's a point.ozrulestrace wrote:Plus that gift of a goal because the third umpire called " inconclusive, therefore a goal"

But the ball was still on the line.
Just like out of bounds, if the ball is ON the line, it's still in play.
Same as tennis, same as any other ball sport you can think of.

I agree and I still maintain the Aussie Jones kick against the Lions was a point.George27 wrote:Agree totally with your assessment - it was a goal.BackFromUSA wrote:ozrulestrace wrote:

The side on camera told the story.WellardSaint wrote:if the ball goes over the line, the whole ball...it's a point.ozrulestrace wrote:Plus that gift of a goal because the third umpire called " inconclusive, therefore a goal"

Just like out of bounds, if the ball is ON the line, it's still in play.
Same as tennis, same as any other ball sport you can think of.
For all of the ball to be over all of the line you needed to see a slither of daylight between the ball and the posts from side on.
But you didn't.
So goal stands - good decision.
A lot of people don't get the "ALL of the ball over ALL of the line" concept.
Particularly Collingwood supporters when they moan about Wayne Harmes.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

The 50m penalty was confusing as it looked like we were just changing the man on the mark.BigMart wrote:We definitely got the rub of the green
