I'm not sure what that means. Where have they said it's irrelevant?stevie wrote:Wow, only took the idiots who run the game 8 months to realise the floating round s*** was irrelevant
Anyhow, if we happen to need a huge win over the Lions to get past North, we'll know exactly what we have to do.

Re: Round 23 Sunday 1:10
Spot on. The AFL clowns sprouted on about how we'd get less Sunday games next year and give us a bonus one in Round 23.BackFromUSA wrote:Wow ANOTHER Sunday afternoon game. Woohoo. Groan. estmated crowd 15,000. Financial loss - HUGE! We better get that Good Friday game. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
No doubt Gil will go chickenshit about Good Friday and say it was very close to happening in 2017 but will definitely happen in 2018. The Dogs/Saints clash will get railroaded by a big club wanting a slice of the action

It may well be, but I can't see where the AFL have come out and agreed with that sentiment.Bernard Shakey wrote:It's irrelevant because there is a bye next week!kosifantutti wrote:I'm not sure what that means. Re: Round 23 Sunday 1:10
The floating last round came to fruition so as to give the top teams a bit more rest prior to the finals. North & Freo stuffed that up by resting half their teams. The afl then brought in the bye before the finals (a stupid, knee jerk, reaction) which therefore rendered a floating round for the last round obsolete and should have just gone with a FIXtured round from the start. It's not that hard to understand.kosifantutti wrote:It may well be, but I can't see where the AFL have come out and agreed with that sentiment.Bernard Shakey wrote:It's irrelevant because there is a bye next week!kosifantutti wrote:I'm not sure what that means. Re: Round 23 Sunday 1:10
Exactly. But I really hope a team in the eight (say the Hawks) has a ladder position locked up and tanks round 23 regardless. Why not?! The AFL would be fuming, but could do nothing !Jacks Back wrote:The floating last round came to fruition so as to give the top teams a bit more rest prior to the finals. Yes I understand all that, there's no need for anyone else to explain it to me.Jacks Back wrote:The floating last round came to fruition so as to give the top teams a bit more rest prior to the finals. But where have the AFL said " the floating round s*** was irrelevant"?

Kosi they haven't, that was my description of the farce. It was sarcastically pointing out the afl should've just fixtured Rd 23 in the fixture that was released in October last year

No way will there be a 15,000 crowd for that game. The Lions have been getting good support in Melbourne this past couple of seasons I think you'll find. Most of their games have been played on Sundays too and they usually get mid thirty-thousands turnouts. The Royboys supporters have been turning up - even at Geelong.
If we need to win to make the finals I would say that we should be getting 30,000 at least for that match. The weather is usually starting to improve by late August and people with kids find it a lot easier to get to 1:10 start games than those that start at 4:40. A lot of junior footy has also finished by that time too.
I don't mind Sunday games at all if they are at 1:10pm start.
And if we are out of the running by then there may well be a few of our GF players' retirements to farewell. Lots of reasons why we should get a healthy turn out for that one.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Re: Round 23 Sunday 1:10
Strange fixture as if Hawthorn remain on top they would traditionally play their QF on the Friday night.
But this will only give them a 12 day break compared to their likely opponent getting 13 or 14.

Re: Round 23 Sunday 1:10
If Norf lose on the Saturday and we know we are in the finals - we should rest our top 20 players to get them fresh for the EF.

Re: Round 23 Sunday 1:10
But Gilligan and his bunch of knee-jerk knobs have outlawed tanking as they built in their bye round no one wanted.Enrico_Misso wrote:If Norf lose on the Saturday and we know we are in the finals - we should rest our top 20 players to get them fresh for the EF.
Gilligan will make up a rule on the Friday AFTER team selection that states:
"Zee must not make more than 4 unforced changes for Round 23!"
This rule will be retrospective of course so we will need to reneg on the 20 changes you suggested.
