Met him twice and he was a great bloke.
All bluff and bravado, made a career out of acting that way.

Does a lot of speaking and fund raising nights.
I would guess that this is part of his Bad Boy persona.

Re: Mark Jackson - Open Mike
Saw everyone of his games., talented but selfish player but I was not commenting on him as a player.
I have seen plenty of times when Rooey has abused team mates, does not make him an asshole.
I take people on face value as to how they treat me and I met him twice and he could not have been any nicer.

Loved the way he paid out on the compliant media. He's spot on. They all tow the party line and rarely deviat off the path.

Crikey I could cope with about five minutes of that. Hard work. Insults aplenty. Have you ever seen a more argumentative fella?

Re: Mark Jackson - Open Mike
I played against Jacko when I was about 16. I thought he was nuts then. Spent most of the game running around and yelling in this squeaky voice.....umpire he hit me, umpire he keeps holding me, umpire this, umpire that.....absolute nutter.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Mark Jackson - Open Mike
Plays dumbs plays as fools, but he's clever. Definitely not a fool. And as was mentioned many a time, he kicked over 300 goals in 81 games at a 3.8 goal a game average. One of the AFL's best full forwards ever. If only he could "tow the line" a little more often he would've kicked 700+ over a proper length careerVazelos wrote:An absolute flog....
Just got his profile up again and will live off that for years...
I will say he is rat cunning... He knew what he was doing..

Re: Mark Jackson - Open Mike
Frankly, I found it pretty astounding that a man of his age hasn't yet developed the ability to accept responsibility for his own actions. "It's everyone else's fault but mine!!" That's A grade flog behaviour in my book. AND, then trying to paint Plugger with the same brush as him... And that he only became a good player at the SCG after leaving the saints... Even though he was FF at St Kilda for a decade.. Utterly delusional.
P.S - Mike jumps at any opportunity to take a leak on the Saints doesn't he... It's actually just become laughable now, It's as if he's desperate to give the perception that the club's still like that. I hope it takes another decade for the Demons to beat St Kilda.

Re: Mark Jackson - Open Mike
I enjoyed the interview .
I wonder if jacko knows that time's change and people can change , clearly he hasn't.
He did make allot of valid points .
Most enjoyable parts were when he was hanging shite on the host .
That arse spent years pouring shite on our club , as many of the current scribe's do .
I'd like to see an "open mike " episode where he apologises for all the lies he wrote over the years .

Re: Mark Jackson - Open Mike
I saw him kick 10 for us at the SCG one day. Thought we may have found a player but then I noticed this skinny kid from Ballarat kicking a few in the twos.

Re: Mark Jackson - Open Mike
Jackson is very calculating. He's obviously using it as a publicity tool to increase his speaking engagements but there's obviously a lot of anger in the bloke. He used the interview as a tool for his own devices. A lot of what he spoke is probably true.
