Re: Duperouzel interview
Very good player. I was at the G when he kicked 6 for WA against Vic. Always knew where the goals were. Alas injured a lot.
Amazing that both he and George Young played state footy and cricket for WA. It was quite common in years gone by , but I think the last bloke to play both State footy and cricket was Craig Bradley ( who played a few Shield games for Vic in the late 80s as a middle order batsman) .

Didn't both Georgey and Duper make first class hundreds?
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Re: Duperouzel interview
George indeed got a ton in his last match for WA before coming over the play for the Saints ( he actually then played grade cricket here for Carlton for a season - a sad blight on his sporting career !) . Bruce alas did not make a ton. Cheers.White Winmar wrote:Didn't both Georgey and Duper make first class hundreds?

Thanks George27. What a freak Georgey was. My second favourite seventies star after Carl. I had him on a hff in my saints team of the century. Could play anywhere with equal effect. Wouldn't someone of his type top our current team off nicely?

Re: Duperouzel interview
George my all time favourite player , hence the "George 27" name I use here. So many brilliant games ( perhaps the best being the 1973 elimination final against Dons, when he had 24 kicks and kicked 6 from the flank). Having said that, he was obviously an outside player, who may or may not have ever laid a tackle , so I am not sure he would be a favourite of Richo ! He would however find a target every time on that trusty left foot.
As much as I wanted to do so, I could not fit him into my team of the best players I have seen playing for the Saints . Doc on HFF, Roo at CHF , and your namesake Nicky on the other flank. Forwards Loewe, Lockett, Milne. A pretty good forward line !
Cheers
