That 2 weeks went quickly, thank goodness. Everything crossed for you, Nathan.

I am a huge wrap for Freeman. Like Seb Ross (when everybody was bagging him and saying he wouldn't make it) he needs a little time to grow into his body and work through his frustrating niggles. He's only 21 or so and will be an absolute gun.

Bloody fantastic news.
May the hamstring gods let him play a stunning 15 minutes (that'll be enough for me for a first hitout...)

I doubt that Seb Ross or Jade Gresham will be playing for Sandy this weekend.

If the Saints thought naming those 2 on the bench would confuse the Dees, they're dumber than I thought.borderbarry wrote:I doubt that Seb Ross or Jade Gresham will be playing for Sandy this weekend.
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

I suppose at some point despite his hamstring "awareness" they just have to roll the dice and let the cards fall where they will. You can't put it off forever and there are risks anytime any player goes on to the field - most of them carry some niggles they risk aggravating. I think the club would be worried what another year of virtually no football for him would do to his emotional state . I'll have everything crossed I can physically cross.

Geez you'd love to see him get one AFL game in this year. Would be massive for him and the club. Imagine when he kicks his first AFL goal. Back page photo for sure as the boys get around him. Cant wait!

Re: Nathan Freeman nearing return
Can't see it happening this year. I'd like to see him get a consistent run at it in the VFL for the rest of the year (even it means having every third or fourth week off). Get to the end of the season without any further setbacks, do a full pre season and then be ready to go at the start of next year.stkfc1 wrote:Geez you'd love to see him get one AFL game in this year. I really hope his body can hold up because I think he is the type of player we need.

Re: Nathan Freeman nearing return
It is not just a matter of playing a game.
It is a matter of him achieving benchmarks which enable him to be selected for games.
The hard yards, and where the confidence comes from, is the work we do not see.
No doubt St Kilda will be looking for him to have a full and uninterrupted pre season leading into 2017 - and if that includes some actual game time in the 2016 season then so much the better.
It is all about building and there is absolutely no need to rush him.
That we need class mid field resources is a given - and this kid was a top 10 Draft Pick I would suggest St Kilda had their eye on before choosing Billings at 3 in preference to Freeman - and he did not "slip" to 18.

Re: Nathan Freeman nearing return
The Pies had two top ten picks that year and got Scharenburg (who's done his knee twice) and Freeman. Wonder what people here think of their recruiters.wally wrote:Could you imagine the outcry if we had picked him at 3 and didn't play a game in 2 years!
