Unlucky - the other 17. Great game! Great commitment. Great application. Courageous marks, fierce tackling, brave decisions. Classic clangers, obviously. But an absolute joy to watch.

Re: votes vs cats
It was so hard to do the votes this week as it was such an even performance - there were no weak links. Even guys like Paddy and Bruce who it just wasn't there night kept hitting the packs hard to make sure it came to ground.
5 Steven - I'm surprised this guy is so low down in votes - it was his line breaking pace that made the cats panic every time he had the footy and break up their press. And of course his match winning goal.
4 Hickey - I just thought Hickey was enormous virtually playing against two rucks. When the tide turned in the 3rd qtr he lifted again to get momentum back our way. And he did some 3 brilliant pack crashing up forward. Keeps getting better. Where is his ceiling? Exciting to see.
3 Ross - Seemed to go head to head with Danger and still chalked up huge possessions - brilliant
2 Rooey - his marking was huge. When cats clogged our run up he would often take a huge mark to get us out of trouble
1 Minch - I'm giving him a vote for his ice cool slotting of goals to put our dominance on the scoreboard which was vital later
Can't squeeze Gresh in but boy another step up. Started landing his passes too which we were told was a strength. Great goal - backs himself field.

Re: votes vs cats
Carlisle will be our chop out ruck next year. He's quite a good ruckman in his own right. Will be a massive bonus for us. Keeps Bruce at home and gives Hickey the rest and we wont loose much.bigcarl wrote:We've got to find him some support. I mean some real support, not just little three minute cameos by Bruce.Hickey - immense solo effort rucking all night against 3 blokes. Had a huge impact on result.
I don't care if it's Delaney, Bruce or even McCartin. Hickey didn't give them a sniff in the first quarter and it was only when he tired that the Cats got going.
I'm all for Bruce, Paddy and Membrey forward, but it limits us to one regular ruck so we need to find ways to give Hickey a chop out

why not just give us a full wrap of every playerCon Gorozidis wrote:5. Ross - future skipper
4. Weller - looks like superman sometimes
3. Roberton - stood up when it mattered down back. Was a General.
2. Gresham - probably won us the game.
1. Steven - Running machine. Scrapped all night. Never stops trying.
Honourable mentions/unlucky:
Hickey - immense solo effort rucking all night against 3 blokes. Had a huge impact on result.
Minch - 3 goals and 6 tackles.
Roo - Strong all over the park
Geary - Defended to the death
Newnes - Good all round game.
Delaney - Stood up when it counted. Not easily pushed around.
Paddy - competed all over the ground and took some very good marks. Looks dangerous. Took the best defender (Taylor).
Montagna - Good all round game.
