Town Hall Meeting 30 June
At Moorabbin Town Hall tomorrow night-
Please be aware that with the Frankston train line shut between Caulfield & Moorabbin, the area in front of the Moorabbin Town Hall is being used to drop passengers from replacement buses to catch the train from Moorabbin.
So I don't think there is any parking in front the Town Hall and I'm not sure about how much parking is available underneath the Town Hall.
And there may also be restricted parking in Station Street as it has happened during similar line shut downs.
So Safeway maybe ok and for those on the beach side of the Highway maybe park across on that side of the Highway and walk across.
PLUS it's the truck convoy up and down South Road dropping off soil in Clayton 24/7 so I'd suggest avoiding Jasper Road/South Road what with trucks and buses trying to get through the intersection.
I think over the years we all got to know the back streets of Moorabbin trying to get to and fro from the ground and a bit of local knowledge will help.
To be forewarned is to be forearmed especially with the traffic around Moorabbin for the next month which through gritted teeth will be worth it when all of the level crossings are removed.

It's well worth having a geek at the diggers digging up the train line between Centre rd and North rd. It's an amazing sight to see, and well worth a drive to check it out. Once in a lifetime experience

As someone who travels a bit for work, that sounds like a disaster. Even adding a lounge, airports are not fun places to spend time. What do you do?BackFromUSA wrote:Hmmm none for bloody pleasure. I do stupid stuff lfor work ike have to fly to China for 1 day or Sydney for 3 hours. NOT fun!

Interesting, international logistics here. Funny who you meet online. Should catch up one day if your open to it.BackFromUSA wrote:Manufacturing products for import and distribution and now export.BonoRocks wrote:As someone who travels a bit for work, that sounds like a disaster. Going to china for a day is a bit full on, spend all the time travelling in a car or flying both just as bad and not fun at all.
I should talk more on this place rather than read it 10 times a day for 15 years. Love reading, pretty quiet generally. Equally the same love as everyone else here.

Re: Town Hall Meeting 30 June
CBF typing too much.
$29M development of Moorabbin if approved demo on a few months construction to start end of year and take 14 months. $24M already funded. Club working behind the scenes with major donors and then will seek a general appeal to fund the shortfall next year.
Re Sandy alignment- still working with Sandy to finalise it going forward - stressed it must be on our terms - ie playing as many players as we like
Richo loves The Gresh. Doesn't have the tank yet for much time in the midfield but I sense he's been touted as an absolute superstar internally. Mentioned the bualk on Longeran about 3 times!
Dempster raring to go and may be selected next week. Fisher had some hammy tightness after training today but if minor may be good to go next week.
Freeman still a couple of weeks away from VFL but still very positive.
Carlisle is working for a sponsor of ours who wanted him to do extra hours - they love his work ethic. Comes back to the club 13 Sep
Johnny Holmes is our best centre tap ruckman according to AR and may have a future still, but mentioned Mumford re having lots of rucks who don't get a game and may move on.
Lee selected as GC have 3 very tall forwards.
All up a good night.

We didn't learn a lot that we didn't already know, but it was a good piece of PR.
The pies were nice if you were lucky enough to get one.
Can't wait to get back to Moorabbin.

Re: Town Hall Meeting 30 June
One interesting throw-away line from Richo was interesting.
He was talking about how important it was to develop our future leaders as Roo won't be around for ever.
He said words to the effect of - "We need to groom the next leader whoever that may be, and maybe even a period where Roo provides support".
Does that possibly mean Roo will go on to erase Sticks Kernahan's record and then step down as captain but play on?
Or am I reading too much into it?

Re: Town Hall Meeting 30 June
Richo praised Geary's on field leadership, and referred to his huge scalps this season.
But he spoke for all of us when he said he often looked away or closed his eyes when Gears kicked it!

Re: Town Hall Meeting 30 June
Richo also alluded to the fact that we have some room in our salary cap so picking up someone in the proposed mid season draft would be a possibility as long as they met our strict conditions.

Re: Town Hall Meeting 30 June
A few other interesting things. Our membership growth is mainly low yielding junior type categories so that won't deliver us much extra profit. Need more reserved seat members. Our retention rate is 91% which is highest of all Vic teams. Our sponsorship revenue is still well below most clubs. Presidents at our club have a maximum term now as well as the CEO (6 and 8 years - can't remember which is which!). Member satisfaction is the highest ever (since 2001 when they have data, it's slightly ahead of 2004 even!)

Re: Town Hall Meeting 30 June
Thanks for the updates. Good to here they still plan to Freeman this year - I thought they might put him in cotton wool - if he plays no footy this year I will be worried - that would be 3 years of virtually zilch on field. Not a good way to learn.saintspremiers wrote:CBF typing too much.

No surprise Richo loving Gresh - he was obviously a favourite straight away going straight into the team despite some good other candidates with bigger tanks. Got to be careful about playing favourites though - it can upset team harmony - you've got a whole list to manage and rotate through - use it. And don't burn him out like Lonie.
Good to hear Carlisle is knuckling down - the whole thing may have matured him and make him appreciate his lucrative footy career will end at some point so make the most of it.
Re: Town Hall Meeting 30 June
That's hilarious. Did he just say that to you or everyone? At least we know he's not ignoring whats in front of him. Gears looks a serious favourite. I would have liked to see him under pressure for his posi with a better kicking option to give us more drive from the back but looks like Richo has him locked him for quite a while.Enrico_Misso wrote:Richo praised Geary's on field leadership, and referred to his huge scalps this season.
