Favorites- us or GC?
Pretty reasonable couple of weeks for us, and included pushing Geelong aside, but looked in The Age today and the tipsters seem to rate GC as favorites- am I missing something?

Apparently we are behind in the betting as well.spert wrote:Pretty reasonable couple of weeks for us, and included pushing Geelong aside, but looked in The Age today and the tipsters seem to rate GC as favorites- am I missing something?
Would much prefer to be the underdog!

Re: Favorites- us or GC?
Well our last couple of road trips haven't been encouraging. We are seen as Etihad specialists, flat track bullies if you like.
Good teams can win anywhere and that's a hurdle we still have to jump.

Not just them, every preview I've seen and even the betting market has GC favourites.
Probably a combination of abletts return, others possibly coming back and also our horrendous interstate matches. But GC are no eagles or crows and we performed decent against port but faded after leading in the fourth quarter. Just have to face we probably won't get respect until we make finals.

It is hard to understand when we have won 4 out of the last 5 including the top team, and they have lost 10 in a row!Griggsy wrote:Not just them, every preview I've seen and even the betting market has GC favourites.

It is up to us to earn respect when we travel.

Played Power at AO and if we'd won, betting would be different.

The theory is they're "due". Improving form, combined with our less than flattering form away. I will be pleasantly and mildly surprised if we win. If it was at Etihad, I'd have us as near certainties.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Re: Favorites- us or GC?
Incredible, Gold Coast are favorites!
I'd say the punters are thinking of our form on the road this year, although comparing Adelaide & West Coast at their fortresses to Gold Coast at their Recreation Park is a bit silly.
Doesn't bother me though, fine with being underdogs.
It is a test for us and is very much a danger game, it won't be easy. Firstly Gold Coast are due for a win, they have lost 9/10 in a row and their form has been improving incrementally. They should've beaten Richmond a few weeks ago and were good against Hawthorn last week. They are not as bad as they have shown this year. Ablett is back in form and is the sort of player that can win a game off his own boot and they have the form key forward of the competition.
This one will be tricky and any win will be a good win.
Coming off last week, this will be a good test for the boys.

Re: Favorites- us or GC?
Yeah I can kind of see why - they'll say that game took a lot out of us being a tough tackling physical game, our injury list is now building, we don't travel well, we've been very up and down most of the season with bad losses following good wins, GC are starting to play ok and will be desperate for a win on their home deck, Ablett back. I think its a tough game. If we win this then I'll feel we really are getting somewhere.

They should have beaten Richmond and were all over the Hawks in the first half.
Both sides could play cracking games and they could actually beat us by being the better side - so I think the bookies are about right

Up here in Indi we definitely dont want a Liberal win locally anyway. Go Cathy McGowan.

No need to worry, Shorten ain't winning. The press are just hamming the excitement up, the numbers in whole, are quite dire for Shorten. Turnball will win comfortably.saintspremiers wrote:As long a s Shorten doesn't win also it's not the end of the world

Particularly for this game though you would think it shouldn't have any bearing whatsoever.SemperFidelis wrote:Apparently we are behind in the betting as well.spert wrote:Pretty reasonable couple of weeks for us, and included pushing Geelong aside, but looked in The Age today and the tipsters seem to rate GC as favorites- am I missing something?

Eade will try and clog us up but we should play the same way as we did against GFC and if we do, we should win.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
