Murdoch for Webster, either of Templeton or Lee for Wright if rules out, won't bring Lonie in as he didn't play any level last week!!!!!saintbrat wrote:Webster is also out so 2 spotsGoose is king wrote:I would of thought only change would be Templeton or possibly Lonie in for Wright.

Re: team vs Gold Coast Rd 15
Well Webster and Wright are both defenders, thoug wright was reallu pushing forward with his pace.
Webster has good speed, and Wright is very quick.
In recent weeks the team has been noticeably quicker and so the selectors may wish to retain this.
The Suns do have lots of height forward and so Lee would have to bea a chance. If so I suspect the other will be someone with pace or who can run.
Templeton would seem overdue fora recall and can play wing or on the ball.
DMak, White would all be a chance as will Sinclair who has had good form at Sandy
Lonie main obstacle is that Gresham, Weller and Minch all did well as small forward/mids and so you would think Lonie would be surplus to this.

Re: team vs Gold Coast Rd 15
I agree we need more height down back. So I would like to see Lee come in. As for the Wright replacement , based on Sandy form it would probably be Murdoch ( if the coach wants another defender ) or Templeton ( if a mid/forward), but I hope it is DMac. He was picked in the team 4 or 5 weeks ago, had to pull out through illness and did not get another chance. Good player - hard at it and quick.

Re: team vs Gold Coast Rd 15
Firstly we have to pay respect to the opposition - including their marking options in attack.
Last week I thought the one area that we did concede in was overhead - they just took too many contested man on man overhead marks which kept us under pressure when we should have fought a line ball circumstance at ground level.
The extension of that is that I prefer some height apart from KPP defenders (where we really only had Delaney last week, although Gilbert supported admirably) - hence my preference that neither Roberton and Gilbert are assigned KPP defensive positions but can use their skills, including overhead because of their height, in an offensive (and 3rd up) capacity.
Hence, given GC have multiple marking options, I would prefer that Lee be included.
It will also allow a further assessment of the transition from attack to defence - and replacing Fisher (in support of the probability of Carlisle and Goddard) when Fisher (and Dempster) call time on their careers.
Delaney adds a further insurance - and that is required in strong and balanced Lists.
And then there is Coghlan, who showed good signs last week in the VFL and the NZ recruit who similarly impressed.
With further education at VFL level both of these players could well add to our required depth in regards KPP defenders and the 3rd tall defensive option.
Wright played forward last week (jagging 2 goals) so if there is a need for a replacement there there are multiple in the "frame".

According to AR White is a bit of a beast on the track. They were doing some physical drills yesterday and he had to make sure White wasn't part of it in case he destroyed Roo or one of our guns!!!The_President wrote:Don't be surprised if White make his debut

Picked White as future gun after the practice match down at Sandy. Hard as. Plus knows where to go. Was surprised he wasn't the in for Webster.
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

He's too immature as a footballer ATM. Sometimes his aggressiveness is to the point it's silly. And he can be reckless with the ball even though he's a beautiful kick he's not the smartest kick yet.
He's also a long way off defensively.
I think (with Mackenzie) he is very likely to become a quality player. But also I think they are probably the furtherest away from being AFL players... If that makes sense?

Re: team vs Gold Coast Rd 15
He'll be in very soon I reckon. He already looks a ripper. Love to see him a get a game or two this year. He looks physically ready. playing well in the VFL against men. Will probably struggle with his tank but they all do when they first come in.BackFromUSA wrote:Picked White as future gun after the practice match down at Sandy. Hard as. Plus knows where to go. Re: team vs Gold Coast Rd 15
The Suns have 3 very big forward, and a medium in Davis as well and so it makes sense to bring in Lee.BackFromUSA wrote:Picked White as future gun after the practice match down at Sandy. Hard as. Plus knows where to go. Was surprised he wasn't the in for Webster.
So Delaney and Lee to take on Lynch and 2 Metre Peter. Gilbert on Day?
