free kicks
How we couldd lose the free kick count in this week's game 19 -15 is beyond me.
Oh, I forgot the maggot awarding most of the frees to the scumbags was a former scumbag himself.

Re: free kicks
Quite a few frees missed for both sides, but overall I thought the unpiring was pretty good.
The Ex-Carlton umpire was no worse than the other 2.
IMO of course

The final count was effected by the 3 soft freebies in front of goal that they got in the last quarter (Bruce would have kicked 8 if they'd paid frees when he was illegally infringed upon).

I think it was 8-1 at one stage against us.

Yep and mostley awarded by no5..Bannister. But then no 7 started evening up.Enrico_Misso wrote:I think it was 8-1 at one stage against us.
I saw Bruce pushed in the back and scagged around the neck. Both frees missed but even picked up by the blue scum around me. We were near the goals , second tier, Coventry end , so had a good view of both incidents.

Yeah, be nice if we won the free kick count once in a while, then I will stop whinging.Till then either put up with it or don't read the thread.Bluthy wrote:Every week...every single week. Be nice if there was one week without whinging about the umpiring.

Er I think I'll trust professionals extensively trained in the rulings of AFL footy over an anonymous nobody forumite like you. How do you like a bit of your own style coming back at you Sants? Feels kind of inane when people say stuff like that doesn't it?saynta wrote:Yeah, be nice if we won the free kick count once in a while, then I will stop whinging.Till then either put up with it or don't read the thread.Bluthy wrote:Every week...every single week. No I couldn't care less. I was chairman of an AFL affiliated dispute tribunal for a number of years so I at least know what I'm talking about. Do you?Bluthy wrote:Er I think I'll trust professionals extensively trained in the rulings of AFL footy over an anonymous nobody forumite like you. Re: free kicks
Boundary umps were also awful.
2 decisions in front of us were perplexing.
1. Steven attempts a mark on the line. Boundary signals 'touched' even though mark was not juggled. Steven advises same. Boundary and Central have discussion. Boundary returns to line and signals 'on the full'!
2. St.Kilda kick floats toward boundary and lands directly on the line as boundary is already signalling 'on the full'!
Both very ordinary decisions.

Re: free kicks
Very strange Hawthorn have won four close games on the back of biased umpiring. Three times the umpires have admitted mistakes after the game. Odd that this has happened all to the same side .
NO IFS OR BUTS HARVS IS KING OF THE AFL
Re: free kicks
What the hell does that have to do with umpiring? You love to use the old "I think the coach/club/AFL match review know better than a nobody like you" to win arguments. And yet here you hypocritically assume you know more than current extensively trained professionals with access to voluminous AFL resources. Just a little learning point that might stop you using pulling out one of your inane argument winning mechanisms in the future (although it probably won't).saynta wrote: I was chairman of an AFL affiliated dispute tribunal for a number of years

Re: free kicks
The worrying trend is that we don't seem to receive the same number of free kicks as other teams. Does that mean that every other team is better than us at tackling and spoiling than we are? We receive 15.8 free kicks per game. By comparison, there are ten clubs that receive 20 or more.
We can argue about the ones paid against us but the greater concern is the ones that we don't get.

Got under your skin it would seem. Don't know why that would be as it is you that comes across as a know it all to me. You post as if your opinions are fact.Bluthy wrote:What the hell does that have to do with umpiring? It was your comments on the MRP that irked me hence my disclosure. I relied on 60 years experience watching football as the basis of my opinion on the crap biased umpiring.
So have a good day.

Re: free kicks
That was staggering...The boundary ump initially must have thought that the ball was touched inside the field of play but the mark was completed over the line. The field umpire said he thought the mark was not juggled. The boundary ump says "in that case then I believe the ball was out on the full".Viking3 wrote:Boundary umps were also awful.

WTF?
If that was the case then that should have been the initial call. The commentators were bewildered.
Why is nobody in the media talking about that one?

Re: free kicks
The guy was all over Lewie Pierce in the third when he had a one on one. We might have gotten a goal from it anyhow. I thought there was a clear free in the second in similar circumstances that wasn't paid. Can't remember who.
Also dodged a bullet with a free that wasn't paid against Savage for front on contact in a marking contest.
And that out on the full call was ridiculous.

yes, I was listening to the ABC who called the Pierce one. definately missed. I was too far away to comment on the jack non mark but saw the replay on the big screen 50-50 call to me. until I watch the match again.
Saw the Savage one, thought the maggot blew his whistle at first.
All round poor performance imho, but then the maggots have admitted to making 4 or 5 wrong calls in every match.

Re: free kicks
They weren't as bad as the umpiring yesterday!!! on one occasion a Dee's player turned around and was tackled front-on without the footy and the umpire was less than 5m away watching it happen...nothing to see here, play on. should have heard the crowd go off

Re: free kicks
What about the idiot umpire who couldn't bounce the ball and then asked Gawn why he punched the ball away. If I were Gawn I would have responded that we wouldn't be having this conversation if you knew how to bounce the ball properly.
