A Pat On The Back

Post: # 1620011Post Bruce G McAbee »

Just want to say a well done to a player who played yesterday who gets ridiculed, that we all sighed when we saw his selection and expected to do badly.
Well done to Luke Delaney, I just watched the replay and he did his job and did it well. Still has a way to go to convince that he has a spot on the list, but he did take a good step in that direction.
So again, well done Delaney.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Don't exactly remember him playing a bad game at AFL level but he must have given how little games he has been given and the general lack support from fans.

He spoils very well in packs and as we all watch where the ball goes we forget to check who made the spoil. That and he is not a high possession player is why he gets little love. As I wrote earlier in the year quoting from the prospectus he elite in a one on one battle. Deserves to keep his spot. Some people have said he didn't set the world alight in the VFL but some peoples game style is more suited to AFL than VFL. Perhaps he is one

Delaney definitely needs to be kept on the list.

At least 2 reasons for me..

He does his job.

We don't have depth in our Key Back stocks.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

it was a big step-up for him this week and he would have been very nervous - backline mistakes are very costly and dramatic.

Delaney is a back-up and did reasonably well under not so difficult attack. He seemed to me to lack confidence and defended, rather than attacked the contest, but he will improve with more games. He has the size to match the big guys (Hawkins in a fortnight), but is a bit slow in getting to contests.

Fingers crossed for a strong effort and good result in a fortnight.

He is a depth player and that's all. In because of injuries.
He's been playing Sandy reserves lately.

He is good defensively, who reputedly fell out of favour with Ross for his lack of an offensive game.

When he first joined us his record of shutting down opponents was not juts ok, it was outstanding.

Did that actually happen? I know a few were named in both sides because of difficulties with naming an AFL squad for the Sunday.

Never ever heard or seen anyone ridicule Delaney. So props to you for pushing yourself as the hero supporter against the imaginary mean spirited supporter that doesnt actually exist. Hooray for you! Give fireman a PM and you can both tell each other you are the bestest supporters and some others are the meanest and worstest.

Well back in Feb he is supposed to of mentioned that it was his last year at the club and he realizes that he's a vfl player and not an afl player.

Well Luke in your first year you came 5th in the B&F for the club, VFL players don't do that, you need to go out there and PROVE otherwise.
If it was me i'd be going out there and giving my all. Someone needs to speak to him and give him the challenge

Ross Lyon wasn't here when we got Delaney -he was part of the Dal Santo trade and Scott Waters was coach.
