Mav
I know the kid doesn't get rated often in the best players but bloody hell he's relentless in his attack on ball and opposition.
Have been following the pressure act stats this year and he's just about #1 in aggregate.
Must be great to play alongside.
Does anyone else see a little Aaron Hamill in him?

Re: Mav
I have always liked the boy's aggression, he's a bit like Hamill,
and obviously the forward coach likes him because last year he played a bit everywhere
and now he has a full-time defensive forward role.
Is in the leadership group, and wasn't he the nominated captain for the Mackay (washed-out) NAB Cup game?
He's got grunt... he really turns it on
Loved his soccer style celebration after his 55m running goal !

Re: Mav
Remember in the Freo game- he did 2 brilliant things that I noticed-
he put the ball into the square, Bwoose tapped it, Rooey did the karate kick.
And he took on 2 defenders, under pressure, got a precise handpass out to JackS, who centred it to Membrey (this was last qtr)
He seems to be cool and composed under pressure with his handballs and has enough tiger-in-the-belly to ignore the tackle,
to ensure his handpass is on point.
Others aren't as composed.
Luv the Mav

Re: Mav
Funny you mention his handball as after I wrote the post that's exactly what I realised I missed. He is the slickest and most reliable handball in the team under pressure.WellardSaint wrote:Remember in the Freo game- he did 2 brilliant things that I noticed-

Re: Mav
He's always had great quality that he's prepared to take responsibility. We've got a few younger guys coming through now with the same preparedness - Newnes, Jack Steven obviously! Now gradually hoping to see Dunstan, Webster, Billings move into that space.

Re: Mav
I like his toughness. In a young team, with a lot of players yet to build strong bodies, he adds a lot of grunt. Love his attack on the ball.

Re: Mav
Seems to play as the defensive half forward, which we need. Should have kicked 4 yesterday, 25 out missed set shot and 2 snaps that should have been goals also. might develop into that Puopolo type role for us

Re: Mav
I think his average disposals this year is 15.8?
Doesn't get more because-
He actually does a bit off the ball to give others a "chop-out" is that the right word?
He takes heat so Capt Jack and others can get a better run at the ball

I've noticed #44 several times, blocking, shepherding, etc - the number seems to stand out
