Haven't read the article.
Still think Lloyd is a flog... Even if he is right.

Re: Matthew Lloyd on StKilda
Article is lightweight. Would have been better sighting our record from 2013 onward. Curtailing ones' facts to the last month only is quick-sticks journalism and barely feather ruffling.
Huge irony in the proposed 'enough is enough' slogan. LOL (laugh on Lloyd)
We should very well win the next five games. Carlton will win only one.

And if we win today it will be 3 from the last 4. A better stat than the top team North.saintbob wrote:Sadly if we get beaten badly tomorrow, Velvet will look like an expert!!

We beat 17th and 18th.
They have lost to 2nd interstate and 1st - both away games.
Re: Matthew Lloyd on StKilda
The honeymoon is definitely over for Richo. Some heat is coming down. This year was always going to be a very choppy-changey year (I think it should have been more choppy-changey with personnel in fact). Next year will really be Richo's team for the first time with a lot of his talented draft babies maturing into bigger bodies and hitting the 50 game mark and should be able to show some more consistent form. We'll know more then if Richo has the tactical smarts and clever system that is required for teams to compete at the highest level.
I'm worried we rely too much on pressure and effort which should just be the icing on the cake. A complex on field structure with a tight, bullet-proof defensive system should be the cake as that carries you through the marathon that is an AFL season. Trying to bring grand final pressure each week can wear players out.

He's not an Essendon player... he's a commentator

Lloyd is a flog of the highest order.
14 out of 55 is a f****** disgrace.
No denying it.

Re: Matthew Lloyd on StKilda
Lloydy wasn't too far wrong in his stating of the facts BUT we answered in spades today.
I honestly believe our second half of the season is going to silence a few more critics.

Pretty much right, and the response today was much what those who love the club (and pay attention) expected. Lloyd's comaprisons with Collingwood and Richmond are completely out of the park though...I can't remember us ever telling the media we were going to be top 4 this year!

Needs to write some sort of column as part of his employment so he'll pick an easy target. If Collingwood lose today then that'll be his next column.

Re: Matthew Lloyd on StKilda
The truth always hurts when it's inconvenient - but it's the truth, nevertheless.
Despite 5 wins already, we've been thumped by better sides; both here and interstate. That's a fact.

The second premiership by 2020 is even tastier.

Re: Matthew Lloyd on StKilda
Personally I think top 4 by 2020 and premiership 2022 taking into account the GWS Dynasty

Re: Matthew Lloyd on StKilda
We're only 3 players short of being a top 4 side right now - but I'm talking about a Motlop plus a Dangerfield plus a Fyfe (or Dustin Martin) away.BackFromUSA wrote:Personally I think top 4 by 2020 and premiership 2022 taking into account the GWS Dynasty
So theoretically we could get there before 2020?

Re: Matthew Lloyd on StKilda
yep the geelong vs north game proves you need two A graders at their peak Dangerfield & Selwood(both 26yrs) + two more quality outsiderssamoht wrote:We're only 3 players short of being a top 4 side right now - but I'm talking about a Motlop plus a Dangerfield plus a Fyfe (or Dustin Martin) away.BackFromUSA wrote:Personally I think top 4 by 2020 and premiership 2022 taking into account the GWS Dynasty

Re: Matthew Lloyd on StKilda
Personally I think 2018 for top 4 and a second premiership in 2019 or 2020 seems both reasonable and achievable.
Think we all agree that the following players will not only get better but be A grade and then we are just missing a couple of good trades:
Goddard, Carlisle, Paddy, Billings & Gresh.
