I wasn't the one talking up Goddard like he was automatically a 10 year premiership CHB
But then again
I didn't proclaim Stanley, Siposs, Acres, Lonie, Dunstan, Templeton as future stars either

Well you are the one caught out in this thread inferring that the forum at large was haling Goddard as the new Jakovich or Grant when it didn't and now seek to deflect.BigMart wrote:I wasn't the one talking up Goddard like he was automatically a 10 year premiership CHB

Personally I hope that Goddard as a youngster has a good game, but even if he does not it will be another step in his education.
PS: I would not be writing off Lonie just yet either...

Acres, Lonie, Templeton and Dunstan could all become future stars. All of them are in their third year and no older than 21.....patience.saintsRrising wrote:Well you are the one caught out in this thread inferring that the forum at large was haling Goddard as the new Jakovich or Grant when it didn't and now seek to deflect.BigMart wrote:I wasn't the one talking up Goddard like he was automatically a 10 year premiership CHB

Statistically 95% of players don't become stars and you get it right 95% of the time. Well done you.BigMart wrote:I wasn't the one talking up Goddard like he was automatically a 10 year premiership CHB

And shame on all you fans on a fan site getting excited about our young players.

Looking forward to seeing how Hugh goes. Hopefully the guys can stay in the game for a while and not get completely blown away like the West Coast match... Boy that was hard to watch.

I am suspecting that it will be a big test for him as unfortunately the ball is likely to be pumped into the Crows forward line a fair bit.

So sensitive.... wonder why?
not sure I ever called Steven a dud... better quote that... I have said he is not a good kick... shock horror
Not sure ive said that none of those youngsters are failures either... just don't suggest stardom after a handful of games.
Hickey has exceeded my expectations... and i acknowleded that....but is not Dean Cox either...
Did we overestimate Hugh when drafted??? and mocked Carlton
Boekhurst has not been a joke... 14 games so far
Goddard has also been OK to this point 8 games... but he has not burst on the scene like a weitering

Yes is is absolutely astonishing that a pick 21 has not come on as quick, or as well, as a pick 1.
You post this like it is somehow surprising.

Gilbo can't hurt us as much in the middle, he haemorraged goals in Perth, so at least the coaches recognise this. Robbo is a huge concern, he just wants to be outside and unaccountable, he is useless in defence. Got votes against Freo only because their forwards were slack, delivery in last qtr was poor to them, and he could run off them.

Re: Team v Crows
I reckon there'll be one late change with wet and windy weather conditions expected in Adelaide today, one of our tall forwards may miss.
My guess will be Paddy out for Webster.

I doubt it, we'll need to take our chances up forward today and make the most of our inside 50s.saintbob wrote:I reckon there'll be one late change with wet and windy weather conditions expected in Adelaide today, one of our tall forwards may miss.

Re: Team v Crows
From our Adelaide based posters does the new venue get badly affected by the wind when it is blowy?saintbob wrote:I reckon there'll be one late change with wet and windy weather conditions expected in Adelaide today, one of our tall forwards may miss.

Our tall forward line is not really that tall, and all are quite mobile. Membrey is only 188cm. Roo goes ok in the wet.
Plus there are no real talls on the bench apart from the very mobile Gilbert who also tends to go ok in the wet.
7 Luke Dunstan
15 Jack Billings
19 Sam Gilbert
36 Daniel McKenzie
So our team as selected is not overtly tall and for changes throughout the day you could already resta tall on the bench easy enough and which has happened to Paddy for two games already.

I hope not. Nothing against Jimmy, but I reckon Paddy earned his spot last weeksaintbob wrote:I reckon there'll be one late change with wet and windy weather conditions expected in Adelaide today, one of our tall forwards may miss.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't potting Paddy as I reckon he is going really well, it was more about team balance due to the conditions.bigcarl wrote:I hope not. Re: Team v Crows
Here's my own personal take on these players. I could be wrong (and hopefully am in some cases):st.byron wrote:Acres, Lonie, Templeton and Dunstan could all become future stars. But then again
I didn't proclaim Stanley, Siposs, Acres, Lonie, Dunstan, Templeton as future stars either
Personally I hope that Goddard as a youngster has a good game, but even if he does not it will be another step in his education.
PS: I would not be writing off Lonie just yet either...
- Acres: has the talent to succeed, just depends on his work rate.
- Lonie: I've seen enough that I like, but he's not quite there yet
- Templeton: Won't make it unfortunately.
- Dunstan: will be a great long-term player for us. Love the way he puts his body on the line and gets on with the job. A few years ahead of what you'd expect from a bloke his age.
