2 goals, great pass to Bruce, and the clever tapon to Joey. Very smart footballer.

Re: Welcome to the AFL Mr McCartin
Did really well. Reckon his kicking is going to have us pulling out our hair though. He's going to be a massive unit. Hope he can sort his kicking out. Think he's a pure footballer and not an athletic robot.
Well done Paddy.

Sounded like the members stand at Moorabbin when he kicked that ball-burster from 60m. The outer wing just erupted. That was the one that got them going and they never looked back

Re: Welcome to the AFL Mr McCartin
Good call Big Carl. I think he is the kind of guy who kicks a goal and says follow me boys.
Re: Welcome to the AFL Mr McCartin
He was very good.
is a bit slow, needs to build his body and tank but is very clever, and has good dukes.... kicking a real concern, awful ball drop.
will clearly be a Cloke level or better key forward

Cloke level?
Well that's a downer.
His tap to Joey was excellent football.

Re: Welcome to the AFL Mr McCartin
When McCartin was allowed to stay in the forward line and present as a leading target, the midfielders confidence soared. He really helped to straighten us out.
There's even a little bit of a young Plugger about him, possibly even has better hands, though he doesnt kick as well as Plugger.

Still has a long way to go, he still looks like a big fat kid with not a lot if definition. If he ever gets fit he will dominate...
Re: Welcome to the AFL Mr McCartin
Cloke was one of the most dominant Key Forwards in the AFL from 07-12
I'd be happy with that...

Re: Welcome to the AFL Mr McCartin
Haven't seen any footage except the Membrey mark however Paddy ran past Membrey after he took it and he just looked fkn massive - huge unit already at 20
A few more years in the system (building strength and endurance) and he is going to be pretty hard to stop

Re: Welcome to the AFL Mr McCartin
Paddy has a smart footy brain, his stab pass to Bruce was sublime.
Then he contested the ruck! That's not what I was expecting!
He was scortching hot in the 3rd quarter, but he was taken off the ground at about the 20 min mark, and didn;t return until about 10 mins into the final quarter. Pity, he was on fire.

429 career goals. I'd probably take that.BigMart wrote:Cloke was one of the most dominant Key Forwards in the AFL from 07-12

I have been saying along Paddy should set himself 500 career goals as a long term goal.
Nothing to be sneezed at. Longmire has 511. Sumich 514. Lucas 471. Brownless 441. Lyon 426.
Interesting list.

Saverio Rocca under-rated. 748 goals!

He's played 11 or 12. He will be imposing after his first 50.saintbob wrote:He'll be a ripper when he gets another 2 preseasons and another 50 games under his belt.
Bruce only just past 50.
Membrey on 15-odd.
These guys are going to be trouble in 2017-18.

I noticed with a lot of interest that Jack Steele got squeezed out of the 22 this week, and the kid has done nothing wrong.Rosco wrote:Just need to bog together a back line and get 3-4 a grade mids, how is he GWS salary cap squeeze going?
It's just the GWS has an abundance of quality mids, who am I kidding they've got an abundance of talent full stop, so I reckon blokes like Steele, Kelly, Hopper, Greene, Cognilio, Whitfield, Shiel, Scully and Ward aren't all going to fit in the salary cap going forward and clubs like ours will be ready with an open cheque book just waiting for the cracks to appear.

Re: Welcome to the AFL Mr McCartin
That little tap he did to Monty that set up a final quarter goal was sheer genius.
It shows that Paddy is not just a big dumb forward, but has a quick footy brain.
He is getting a little better each week.
And I am getting a little more excited each week.

No way is he going to shank the ball like Close. Has a good kicking action. Just needs to compose himself.BigMart wrote:He was very good.
